A lean, action-packed adventure boasting a wonderfully weird setting.

If Cormac McCarthy read like a 'normal' book, I wouldn't be interested.
Plot is about 8th on the list.
Voice, style, insight, knowingness, art of language-- all mean more to me.
Try The Road though if you want a more mainstream McCarthy.
After reading "Rider in the Widow Lands," Coy Hall's new Sword & Sorcery story, my admiration only grows. This is a terrific, moody tale about a flinty-eyed "hero" whose past, only glimpsed, could surely fill volumes.
I enjoyed the hell out of this story!

It's a story about knights on a dying earth! Very excited for everyone to read it.
One of our editor's stories, "This Rough Beast," is in this one! Grombrindal versus vampire knights.

We love it indeed!
Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee
Recommendation of the day: "The Coral Heart" by Jeffrey Ford, in the anthology (aptly titled) "Swords and Sorcery," edited by Hartwell and Weisman. A wandering warrior with a sword that turns men to coral visits a villa inhabited by frog-people and a beautiful scholar. He also has a tulpa. Loved it.

A muted tones illustration by @thecodexnoirmatic.bsky.social, depicting a pair of comic book style panels - one is an upside down triangle showing a stone age sub-saharan African warrior looking up, the other is an arched panel the triangle is pointing down into; it shows a walled village.

Very happy to hear it. Hope the magazine and novella continue to entertain. And a big fan of TPM's work; keep fighting the good fight!
I'm so glad you like the magazine, and the story! This made my (and Caitlyn, wife and fellow editor's) day.
A knight fighting a wildman? Wow, what magazine might that story be appearing in...
Lovely art! And honored to have one of our editors' stories in here!
It's gotta be Macho Man as Severian, and Miss Elizabeth as Thecla.
