Nominations may come from dissertation advisors or self-nominations. The winner of the MHA Dissertation Prize will receive $500 and the opportunity to participate in an MHA awards panel or workshop at an MHA annual conference.
The MHA is pleased to announce a new Dissertation Prize to be awarded annually beginning this year. Dissertations written on any aspect of midwestern history or including the Midwest as a critical component of the work are eligible. Only those dissertations defended during 2025 will be considered.

Complete session proposals should be a maximum of 1,000 words, specifying each participant’s role and content offered. A brief cv (2 pages) and contact information must also be submitted for every participant.
