I believe in watching the State of the Union address. Even if I'm not crazy about the president, I've always felt that it's my duty, as a citizen. This is a democracy, the President of the United States is speaking, and we the people need to show up. But this year I just can't do it. Sad, but true.

@birdsoftheworld.bsky.social (the Cornell Lab of Ornithology) has an amazing app, BirdCast, which tracks the movement of migratory birds. It's incredible to watch what's happening as the seasons change. 2.7 million birds flew over my upstate New York county last night! They list the species, too.

Phew! @seymoursimon.bsky.social and I just played a fiercely contested #Scrabble game. I drew both Q & Z to start and had 111 points after the first two turns. He battled back, playing a 7-letter word for 77 points! It was nip and tuck to the end. One of the best games we've ever played, for sure.
