Oh my!!!
Statement made by Wes Streeting Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Labour Ilford North Commons Statement Today, I am updating the House that the preliminary work to establish the PATHWAYS clinical trial into the prescription of puberty suppressants for children and young people with gender incongruence has been paused. The MHRA, the agency authorising the clinical trial, has written to the trial sponsors, Kingβs College London, to raise concerns regarding the trial which will now be discussed with clinicians. On Friday, DHSC published a copy of the MHRA letter, which is available here: Sponsor-letter110226.pdf(opens in a new tab). Discussions between the MHRA and Kingβs College London will begin this week to address these new concerns. I will review the outcome of those discussions, taking clinical advice. I have always been clear about the red lines regarding this trial and the prescription of puberty blockers β the safety and wellbeing of the children and young people and always being led by the expert clinical evidence. Those have been - and will remain - the driving considerations in every decision being made. The clinical trial will not start to recruit until the issues the MHRA raised have been resolved. It will only be allowed to go ahead if the expert scientific and clinical evidence and advice conclude it is safe to do so.
Dr Hilary Cass has criticised the medicines regulator for blocking a clinical trial into puberty suppressors for children, saying it had made βcompletely bizarreβ claims, hadnβt produced any new evidence and seemed to be responding to βpolitical pressureβ, not science. The Pathways trial was paused after the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) published a letter to the research team on Fridayο»Ώ, raising fresh concerns about potential long-term harms to children. The MHRA had previously approved the study, which aims to examine the impact of puberty suppressing hormones on about 220 children aged from 11 to 15 who clinicians believed might benefit from the drugs. But in its letter, which came after threats of legal action from parents and criticism of the trial from gender-critical campaigners such as JK Rowling, the regulator said children should only be allowed to take part after the age of 14. Cass told The Observer she was βdisappointedβ by the MHRAβs intervention. βThere are no new research findings and the MHRA hasnβt presented any new evidence,β she said. βIt feels to me like they are responding to political pressure rather than to science.β
Wes Streeting: on cancelling the puberty blockers trial, my decisions are "always being led by the expert clinical evidence."
Hilary Cass, his expert clinician of choice*: "It feels to me like they are responding to political pressure rather than to science... completely bizarre."
*Until today.
Thanks!

Dear Lucy Three weeks ago you wrote me a bizarre letter in an attempt to hold on to voters who Labour have for too long taken for granted in Gorton and Denton. First, Iβd like to give my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I've been busy on the ground with Hannah Spencer talking to voters about the issues that matter to them β lowering bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services. You'll appreciate most of your letter is out of date now, but I'm sure you'll have seen the poll that came out today, that puts us in first place and Reform in second. Labour are a distant third and itβs now clearer than ever that your party cannot win in Gorton and Denton. If you are as concerned about stopping Reform as you proposed in your letter, the course is now clear: in the spirit in which you wrote to me, you should now urge your members and former voters to back Hannah Spencer on the 26th February to stop Reform and make hope normal again. Kind regards, Zack Polanski Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales P.S β Hannah looks forward to saying hi in Parliament!
Dear Lucy Powell,
A response to your letter:
An image showing the top portion of a blog post or news article titled, "I Have Referred Dr Hilary Cass to the GMC." Below the title, the subheading reads, "Why I believe the Cass Review falls short of the professional standards expected of every registered doctor." The publication date is listed as Feb 16, 2026. The main body text describes an interview Dr. Hilary Cass gave on BBCβs Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. A blue highlight covers a specific section of the text that reads: "she told the nation that most gender-questioning children 'grew out of it and became gay men.' She said that children have been 'misled' by social media." The unhighlighted text continues to describe her interview comments, including her calling gender-affirming clinicians "charlatans," describing surgical procedures as "quite brutal," and claiming social transition can "lock" a child onto a specific trajectory.
Essentially Dr Hilary Cass used BBCβs Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show to spread the βsocial contagionβ conspiracy theory about trans children unchallenged.
Dr Helen Webberley has referred Cass to the GMC as a result.

It seems 'ok' to abuse young women but not betray the state!!! π€¬
Hard not to think that allegations of sharing government secrets is dealt with rather differently to allegations of crimes against girls.

95% of school shooters are cis men. So the question needs to be reversed, is a lack of cross-sex hormones driving cis male shooters to kill
