This sounds very cool, Toronto.
These are Olena Udovichenko and her son Hordii.
A Russian missile killed them today.
Olena was a teacher in a Kharkiv school, Hordii was a second-grader there.
Last night, Russia killed 11 people in Kharkiv, including Olena and Hordii.
RIP.
Some of the damage from bullets hitting the front windows and doors of Torontoโs Temple Emanu-el.
A shooter used at least 20 bullets to attack our Toronto synagogue on Monday night. Thankfully it occurred at 11:00 pm after Purim celebrations had ended. We went today for Shabbat services and it was depressing to see the damage that blind hate can incur.
Switzerland finds that cost overruns and substantial delays for F-35s and Patriot missile systems are unacceptable. Looking for reliable and affordable alternatives elsewhere. #cdnpoli
it really is just stunningly on the nose that the opening salvo to Trumpโs supposed war
of liberation in Iran began with bombing a girlโs school.
if you put that in fiction people would dismiss it as being too maudlin and heavy-handed, and yet this kind of thing just keeps actually happening.

4. So, you might wonder:
If Toronto was founded 233 years ago this July, why are we celebrating its 192th birthday today?
Well, the answer lies with a bunch of Victorians who whitewashed the cityโs history back in 1884.

1. Today we celebrate Torontoโs 182th birthday. Which is pretty weird. Because Toronto isnโt 192 years old. And it wasnโt founded in March.

If Canada continues with any media subsidies it should only be available to Canadian owned and operated companies not foreign owned propaganda empires.
Based upon how wars are playing out in recent times Canada's military should not be spending huge amounts of money on it's air-force for defence. Canada should spend the money on drones and missiles.
A year after Trumpโs tariffs pushed US alcohol off Canadian shelves, drinkers and bartenders are leaning into local spirits and inventing cocktails
I met some really great people through commiserating with them through this ordeal. All very kind. All ages and backgrounds, from across Canada. We each remarked how calm and respectful everyone was, and imagined how different it would have been in the U.S. Canadians are the best people.
Thank you, Prime Minister Takaichi, for your warm welcome to Tokyo.ย

Canada and Japan are close and long-standing partners. In a more uncertain world, weโre ready to deepen our partnership to the benefit of both our peoples.
On this day in 1978, Elvis Costello and the Attractions recorded Live at the El Mocambo, also airing the concert live on CHUM-FM in Toronto. As the show's fame began to grow, it became heavily bootlegged and later released as a promo item, and an official release.
Just so we're clear:
The US hasn't been giving Ukraine as much intelligence against Russia, but still wants Ukrainian specialists to help against drone strikes, all while the Middle East uses up more munitions in a few days than Ukraine since the invasion.
What a sick joke.

Three doctors and a priest are wearing masks around an operating table during the Korean War. One says, "Everybody knows war is hell.โ The second jokes, "Remember you heard it here last." The third, Hawkeye, says, "War isn't hell. War is war and Hell is hell and of the two, war is a lot worse." The priest asks, "How do you figure that, Hawkeye?โ โEasy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?" "Sinners, I believe.โ "Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. But war is chock full of them. Little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for a few of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander."
Itโs still kind of shocking how good and adult a lot of 1970s American TV was, that a show like M*A*S*H was a massive hit without dumbing anything down. Not a lot of conversations like this on sitcoms now.
A simplified map of Canada showing the country divided into its provinces and territories, each shaded in different pastel colours. The large northern territory of Nunavut occupies much of the Arctic region with numerous islands extending into the surrounding ocean. The provinces stretch across the southern part of the country from British Columbia on the Pacific coast to the Atlantic provinces in the east. The surrounding oceans are coloured blue, while neighbouring land areas outside Canada are shown in gray.
Every Canadian province and territory has a capital.
The names of those capitals come from many different sources.
Sometimes it is royalty, and sometimes it is an Indigenous name.
Here is how each capital received its name.
