In fairness to you, that was my reaction when I took the snap. The shadow of the contrail against the flat cloud was far deeper than it is on the photo and thus a lot weirder.

It's really very good - all of it, not just the side with Jack.
I mention this just in case you haven't come across it, but Jack is on the first three tracks on this splendid album, including one of his early compositions, Snow, circa 1966.

It's a lovely album.
Into the office and a spot of lunch on the grass with Neil Ardley and the New Jazz Orchestra, including Jack Bruce on bass. Recorded during two days in September 1968, just two months after this recording, Jack was on stage at the Royal Albert Hall with Cream for their farewell performance.
Absolutely. I like each one of the studio albums but Illusion is the one I play the most.

They were a superb band, very underrated.
I saw them several times and like you was also entranced by Hopper. They were a great band. I do wish Hugh had done more with them.
I wrote the notes to this 3CD box set containing Isotope’s three studio albums. Newly remastered from the original tapes, there’s also bonus sessions from BBC’s In Concert and Whistle Test performances. Due out in May.
