Today we remember the 10 people who died in the Selby rail crash at Great Heck, 25 years ago on 28 February 2001.

Six passengers and four railwaymen lost their lives in this tragedy and 80 people were seriously injured.

Today railway colleagues will be gathering in Newcastle and Selby to remember

This then leads on to the next point; fairness. Gone are the days of dedicated luggage vans, so trains have a finite amount of luggage space that needs to be available all passengers.

Too much and the aisles are suddenly full of suitcases with nowhere else to go.

Because people then take “what you can carry” as a challenge and turn up with three massive suitcases that they can barely wrangle from the taxi rank to the train.
