We're also involving patients in developing elicitation methods to determine a target difference for trials and then, eventually, in sample size discussions... Is that the type of stats methods you are looking for? What is too applied?

I think @suziecro.bsky.social has done PPI in pure stats methods as part of her estimand work. I have a PhD student that has co-developed a Bayesian elicitation method for PPI but I think that might too applied for what you are looking for? Agree w @pwgtennant.bsky.social, definition is crucial

Are estimands being correctly used?
A new review of protocols led by Timothy Clark shows many incorrectly defined estimand attributes. See the top areas for improvement & full results here:

So true re innovative designs at #CCR25 … first trial (the TARGET Protein trial) was a multi-period cluster crossover design! For full details see the (just published) manuscript ja.ma/4kuYRxv

I’ve long used FiveThirtyEight’s interactive “Hack Your Way To Scientific Glory” to illustrate the idea of p-hacking when I teach statistics. But ABC/Disney killed the site earlier this month :(

So I made my own with #rstats and Observable and #QuartoPub ! stats.andrewheiss.com/hack-your-way/

Do you want to help shape research into how and why health and healthcare for people living in different types of rural communities differs from those living in urban areas?

Researchers are looking for people who live in rural and island communities in Scotland and who

a) live with or have experienced cancer or a long-term rheumatic or musculoskeletal condition,
or
b) are over the age of 65 and have been hospitalized at least twice in the past two years,

to be part of the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement group for the BRUCES research project.
Group members will be compensated for their time.

New paper exploring measuring #environmental impact of #health interventions - we found diversity in outcomes, measures, & analysis. Limited involvement of interested parties.

Absolutely essential to do better and reach consensus on what's important to measure
