That is one of my favourites scenes in Father Ted.
Now I will imagine it with swans! π

A coffee and two small pies on a cafe table.

Nice to see you two gorgeous ladies in my timeline :)
Also, in more Friday morning loveliness, bloody excellent re: Hannah Spencer elected in Gorton and Denton. Excellent work by the Green Party and all who support them π
Said Bom dia! to one of my Portuguese neighbours (vizhinhos) this morning and he called a cheery good morning, then proceeded to tell me I am very kind and Portugal needs more people like me to come and live here. He said this in both Portuguese and English, bless him. Put a smile on my face :)
I now really want to read Gloria Don't Speak. Thoughtful and fascinating interview.
Hey Hannah - not sure if you're up to much today?
I love seeing the blossom appear!
I just discovered there's such a thing as Bird Observatories, which research & ring local beds in an area, this makes me happy.
The logs tend to read a bit like a Shipping News for birds. I love this. www.fbog.org.uk/january-sigh...
A latte with milk foam on top and a coffee heart drawn on the top.
Yesterday's coffee at my local - Lourenço hovered ever so slightly as he set it down, otherwise I may have missed it!
A glass teacup holding mint tea, in front of a large bowl shaped G&T glass.
This is how I start a Friday night - mint tea! (While J has a G & T)
That is a very sane reaction.
It's rainy, rainy, rainy here. And grey skies dominate my 5th floor window. Bleurgh. But every now and then I hear a snippet of blackbird song - it pierces my awareness and brings me joy.
I changed the audio
Glad not to have far-right politician, Andre Ventura, elected as next president in Portugal

Unless you click+read this article, you probably donβt know that these cuts mostly relate to care being delivered by private companies. I expect private companies are lobbying hard to turn this into a scandal. Obviously millions are being profoundly failed by β¦

Absolutely yes, no doubt in my mind you can (& do) carry off that look!
That looks fab! Glad the art was good too :)
DJ night at our local bar (I love dancing) and there was a guy I wasn't sure about.
Looked up and saw the bar owner looking at him, then checking in with me to see if I was okay.
Turned out the other guy was harmless, just a little odd. And I'm really glad the owner was on it.
I'm no criminal mastermind but, if I wanted to shoplift something and then slip quietly into the crowd without detection, I probably wouldn't pick '29 things with bells on'

Fair enough and I appreciate you replying to let me know what happened. Take care :)
We were nearly living it - almost adopted the little bugger, after she had a complete transformation and fell asleep in my lap (while sitting on the stairs, in the cold).
Luckily we found her people.
Just noticed that @barthes-studies.bsky.social seems to have been deleted and restarted.
I am missing the unexpected insertions of semiotics into my timeline/day! And the book cover photos.
Hope all is well with those that create the journal :)
I bloody love this!!
I'm also learning to overcome my shyness and say hello to people I don't know; ask people I've met briefly how they and their families are; and to make a point of showing appreciation for previous times a person / a staff member has helped or been kind.
Three bottles of wine, from left to right: a red, a white and a rose. They are arranged on a table cloaked in a white table cloth, with a printed menu in the foreground.
Went to a fab wine tasting dinner at the posh hotel and won the wine raffle!
Stood up in front of a room full of Tomar's great & good to collect my prize.
Most importantly, I understood the words on my raffle ticket 'cos of 5 weeks learning past tense conjugatations.
Ganhou! = You won!
Thank you!
Tiny Siamese kitten sitting on a marble staircase, leading down from where I'm standing.
Found this little bundle of hiss on the stairs of my apartment block.
The little mite stood up and did a proper bottle brush tail - every single hair up on end.
Very much "NONE SHALL PASS" vibes. But hissier.
And all their other cross stitch patterns. They aren't full kits though - you only get the PDF pattern, but they're so cool. hoyfc.com/collections/...
