Rome re-enacts the assassination of Julius Caesar on the Ides of March Rome remembers the Ides of March, the date when Julius Caesar was assassinated by 60 conspirators including senators Brutus and Cassius, on 15 March 44 BC.

Augustus would not have approved. "It was voted that the hall in which he [Caesar] was slain be walled up, that the Ides of March be called the 'Day of Parricide', and that a meeting of the Senate should never be called on that day" (Suet. Div. Iul. 88). www.wantedinrome.com/news/ides-of...
