Publication of my short #PenguinMonarchs book on Henry VII on #WorldBookDay is wonderful. Enjoy the early #Tudor conspiracies, tragedies & @jodyhewgill.bsky.socialβs amazing cover painting. Thanks to the team @penguinrandomhouse.bsky.social

ChatGPT now has a yearly wrap up feature and it summed up my year in this image, described in its own words: 'A Yorkist boar badge leans against a half-edited proposal, Latin flashcards spill beside an empty espresso cup, and a glowing laptop hums faintly with deadlines.' Scarily accurate. π
This is how I will answer all conference questions moving forwards.
Very true! Hoping my tales of murder will motivate some people to join π
Ooh excellent! (That you're attending, not that we'll have to leave the bar before midnight - that's where the best conversations happen).
Also, while I'm here, you'd better all not be too hungover at IMC 2026 because you're all obviously attending my Thursday 9am paper. (Pray for me).
A footnote referencing 'King Edward the Fifth's chain' in Lady Capell's will.
Weird stumbling across this footnote in a 25 year old Ricardian article. Things become unexpectedly controversial. π
Logo of the Yorkist History Trust - a book with the words 'quam meritorium sit libros novos scribere et veteres renovare' across the pages in front of a white rose.

My train north for the C15 conference is currently delayed due to a cow on the line. Apparently said cow is currently 'heading northbound' and we are following it. I suspect it might take a while to get to Durham...
Happy to see this out as an ebook - hard copies out next month. Itβs something I was interested in writingall the way back as an undergraduate in 2006

You will have to be careful or you'll end up on my draft list of beta readers. π
I'm jealous! I've not actually been to see it in person.
I have finally found a Latin tutor who teaches Latin like a modern language. I was almost convinced such a thing didn't exist. I will never have to look at another grammar table again. I am genuinely overjoyed.
If you missed my IMC paper on rumours of Humphrey Duke of Gloucester's murder you can watch it on catch up here (registered delegates only). It was my first Leeds paper so if you have any criticism of it I would LOVE to hear it so I can get better next year.

A recording of my paper on Sir Thomas Mortimer and the Lords Appellant Revolt of 1387 for anyone at Leeds who missed my paper during #IMC2025 (only available to those registered for the conference)

Three dukes of Gloucester before 10:30am, what more could you want in life?
Joined Bluesky to say how much I enjoyed the past few days at Leeds IMC and to thank the Yorkist History Trust (@yorkisthistory.bsky.social) for letting me give a paper in such a fascinating session. Already looking forward to coming back next year!
