One of the more depressing aspects of the GLP-1 stuff right now is how utterly inescapable it is. Whatever you're doing, wherever you are, there are people shrinking at alarming rates, and endless discussion of said shrinking. There's seemingly no place to just *rest.*
i know why game devs keep doing this with enemy design ("acceptable" target, shouldn't be but it is) and i hope, sometime in my lifetime, it ends. remember the boomer in l4d? what if we gave him a backstory file about how he was trying to lose weight? re: requiem! www.mothership.blog/you-know-wha...
(1) Casey Means is a dreadful nominee and should not be confirmed.
(2) I don't have any desire to defend for-profit advertising of any kind.
(3) "Obesity is a national crisis" as a message both relies on and perpetuates bias against fat people.
this would affect my ability to apply for disability! last year someone with my disease won a landmark case that qualified it as a disability under ADA! ive never applied for disability because of the 2k savings restrictions was unliveable and the marriage aspect discouraging. please call!
A graphic in pink, blue, and green that illustrates how recent many Black History events are to the current day -- ranging from 1619 to 2024.
I'm sure we've all seen the graphic that lays out the United States ' relationship with slavery. It's good, but I never thought it was quite impactful enough. So I made my own.
I've used a few key events, including my birth, to highlight how recent these events are in history.
1 square = 1 year.
I hope something works so you feel better soon!!
the cover of it's bitter, baby, and it's very sweet
page 1 of the comic; it says halloween, 1994, and there's halloween candy and toys, featuring a witch pez dispenser, a skull keychain, and a yellow finger monster
page 3 of it's bitter; corey and chelsea are dressed up for halloween and excited
I put my new comic up on itch! $8 for a 34-page horror story!
On Halloween night in 1994, two teenagers and their bully walk into a stranger's basement, and discover an uncomfortable secret about a girl they know.

Media coverage of Gaza has plummeted. So today on @thenation.com, we're doing something pretty special: we're only running pieces by people in and from Gaza.
We're calling it "A Day for Gaza." You can find links to all of the incredible pieces here. Please read! www.thenation.com/article/worl...
Sage, a college student with a ponytail and undercut, dressed in an off the shoulder sweater and jeans stands in a warm toned room filled with books as she looks at August, a college student dressed in 1900s clothing, in the same room, but filled with snow, also holding a camera. From APERTURE, written by Kirsten Thompson, and illustrated by Huenito.
APERTURE, written by me, illustrated by @huenito.bsky.social - from @nakamapress.bsky.social this summer! When Sage finds a forgotten camera in a library archive, she's thrust into another world. The camera links her to August, who walked those halls more than a century ago. Details: bit.ly/4r8VdNj
pitch to movie theaters: perhaps play some gentle warm-up music before Maria plugs her podcast at max volume
MARIA MENOUNOS JUMPSCARE
I have been joined by another lone sketchy man in the unnerving near silence.
The lengths I will go to watch Oscar-nominated French animated films.
New cursed liminal space unlocked: a totally empty movie theater, not labeled with the movie itβs about to play, and nothing is playing on the screen.
The only sound is the droning of the pipes.
These are all Black people. The regime is betting that you wont care Jamael & Trahern the way you care about Alex & RenΓ©e
Wonder Woman has an Amazon tied up on a serving dish. She says βyouβll make a lovely chicken, darling! Wait until I give you a crisp skin!β The Amazon replies βyou make my mouth water - how about feeding me to myself?β
You just donβt get this kind of action in Wonder Woman comics anymore
This is why I basically block my ears when anyone tries to recommend me anything anymore. I have queues that I have to work through and I need to delude myself into thinking it's possible
I very stubbornly try to read books in the approximate order that they are recommended to me, which means I just now finished a book a friend suggested...8 years ago.
I wrote about Minneapolis.

It's Perfect Tides: Station to Station release day! After 4 years the game exists and it's ready for you. Here is the launch trailer to get you through the work day
this is a WILD story
thank you!!! my interest is Piqued
This. I am done returning to the status quo of what got us here. I want universal healthcare. I want a maximum wage tied to the minimum wage. I want omnipresent, cheap public transit and walkable neighborhoods. I want Supreme Court and police reform, and I want the rich to pay their fair share.
So, uh: I'm a dual citizen now? No plans to uproot anytime soon but I am extremely not mad at this.
And by direct lineage, I mean parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, and still onwards. If you can prove that line of descent, you can apply for a certificate of citizenship which confirms citizenship.
There are some small outlying exceptions, but it's worth looking into if potentially applicable!
Not a lawyer, but because I only found out about this via a reality TV star's vanished Instagram story, I figured I'd share:
As of last month, if you are more than 1 month old and have a Canadian ancestor somewhere in your direct lineage, you are very likely considered a Canadian citizen now!
Since the infighting and one-upsmanship has started--people who feel helpless + frustrated turn on each other, it's just a sad fact--remember: you don't have to like the people you fight alongside. Your comrades will say profoundly stupid bullshit to you, about you, etc. Let it roll off, keep going
why do I see glam Angela Anaconda here
omg thank you for the tag. genuinely one of my favorite bits on the internet. I am choosing to believe your watchlist is a massive piece of performance art for an audience of just me
and I am grateful
