Anything else that’s a part of an adventure game is just byproduct of searching to game-ify that idea. An adventure game doesn’t need a puzzle to make it adventure… it needs exploration of the unknown at its core. How it accomplishes that is definitely the harder part to quantify though..
I just read the second part and I guess a lot of it is where I disagree too. I get that adventure has been associated with puzzle mechanics or “interactive movies” but to me an adventure game is based in reality of cause-and-effect and the sensation of freedom of choice and being a part of the world
I just read the first one and I just wonder if games in the adventure space were just relying on cheap mechanics and that’s what they’re upset about. To me adventure is like Skyrim and Fallout and Balder’s Gate. Like… choices matter and mark your own path, not.. idk whatever the disguise quest is…..

I’ve heard of this game so much and never pulled the trigger but it is on discount until March 9 for $9.99. Somebody explain to me why I need to buy this game today and that refusal is just not an option and how much you wish you could play it for the first time? I literally never seen it played.
As somebody who’s been working on an adventure game, the only reason anybody would say that is because the work-to-profit is hit and miss and it requires so much effort. Like, just popping out another CoD is easier than a modern version of Skyrim.

It annoys me sometimes how much grief the #BJJ community gets because competitive BJJ is all about getting somebody to grapple on the ground.
