Hi scientists of bluesky ! I am reporting on federally funded long term monitoring programs and time series datasets in the Bay Area, and I want to know how those programs and data have informed your science / management / research. Email me at tanvi@baynature.org or DM :) #journorequest
and eternal gratitude as always to @meownderthal.bsky.social for correcting every time I referred to an agency as โtheyโ

One of the coolest details about @tanvidg.bsky.social's outing with a field recordist is that a mic placed on a redwood produced this persistent low rumbleโshe thought maybe the sounds of fluid running through the tree. The sound of its lifeblood!? Does anyone know? baynature.org/2025/06/12/t...
From @tanvidg.bsky.social on @baynature.org: answers on #CAProp4 timelines, what work it funds, what could change in the state budget process, which agencies to ask for money (there are more than 30!), etc.
Let us know of other questions!

How much do words (specifically:
diversity, equity, inclusion, justice) matter?
TLDR: not as much as actions, environmental groups say.

as trump wages a war on DEI - with millions in funding at stake - how are NGOs and agencies rethinking their public (and private) commitments to equity? my latest for @baynature.org: baynature.org/article/with...
Conservation work in the Bay Area is in a state of "confusion and chaos" in the wake of the Trump administration's attacks on environmental programs. Uprooter @tanvidg.bsky.social for @baynatureinstitute.bsky.social

I regret to inform you all that today, the haters have won (I have lost my voice and must actually shut up)
A couple weeks ago, I chatted with the guy who helped write those main climate funding legislations about what they were meant to do - and what they might become.
So! Bluesky, help us tell it.
Do you agree or disagree, do you have ideas or critiques or tips? DM, email (at tanvi@baynature.org or wildbillions@baynature.org), train a small flock of birds to spell out your message - all feedback is actively sought and welcomed.
I found lots of open questions, some clear answers - and surprisingly strong hope for what we can do together.
My biggest takeaway? This story is just starting. Itโs going to be a long four years.
Trump made scary campaign promises. What could he really do? And what would it mean for the Bayโs climate and nature movement?
For @baynatureinstitute.bsky.social, I asked around:

Atoms are binary. They are either intended to be hydrogen or helium. We can't just scrap this worldview just because of a handful of exceptions
