This is why I hoped that it stays invite-only forever. With exponential growth there isn't going to be a shortage of legit invites, and it would stop the bots from just generating accounts at will. What is the down side?

Will the description in the book prevent it from being patented, like the way "Stranger in a Strange Land" pre-empted the patent for a water bed? (I'm guessing not)

Already read it. It was very good. That description is accurate, if slightly immediate.

Shouldn't like density be more important than number of likes. Someone with a thousand followers is going to get 100 likes if 1 of every 10 followers likes it. But if a user with 50 followers gets 40 likes, I think that is a stronger signal of a good post.

You wrote "The text of deleted posts is still visible in your repo." I think this is a clear violation of GDPR. My understanding is that if a user requests data to be deleted you have something like a month to remove it from your servers.

I was just thinking about this. Why not keep it invite only? With exponential growth it could still become ubiquitous, but the knowledge of who invited a bad actor might have a beneficial effect. The invitor can be punished, and that might change behavior. Why open it up completely?

Congrats on the book, Amir. Your story is a bit like my wife's. Her mother had to fight for her to get therapy, and then we did the same for our daughter. That daughter who is now in a doctorate program in psychology. Dyslexia is an obstacle, but not a death sentence.

Erdogan actually had Twitter banned in Turkey in 2014 for refusing to comply. (the courts later ended the ban.)

but that was on the “censorship” version of Twitter, not this new “free speech” one
