I think the Giants were counting on some combination of McDonald, Birdsong, Seymour, and Whisenhunt to make a push this spring for rotation depth and/or late inning upside.
I also think they were also hoping to do better than 1-for-4.

This is what kills me about the people who are like βthis is a Trojan horse! They want my income too!β Like bro do you want roads and hospitals and schools or not
(Also thank you for not calling it the millionaires tax)
I think Brennan probably goes to AAA just because I think the option is a big reason why they signed him. To me the big question is, if they want to carry Eldridge, would they rather have one bench infielder and two bench outfielders, or the other way around.
I don't see how Matos fits on the roster at this point but there's not much more you could be asking him to do to win a job this spring short of being an average defensively in center.
anyway what did everybody have for lunch today
A tanker of Schierholtzian proportions
The Eldridge bit where he hits the absolute snot out of the ball and it doesn't leave the park somehow is very funny, actually.
(This was graded at 448 feet so it would've gone out everywhere short of the Polo Grounds, but still.)
I obviously don't know what it's like to do a WH press gaggle, but to a layperson like me the follow-up question that comes to mind is "what exactly are the administration's goals with Operation Epic Fury?"
This has to have been reported before, right?
(Not a dig at John, it'd just be wild if nobody has asked him about "Tell 'em Wash" in the decade-plus since that movie came out)
Tremendous work here. Under your tutelage maybe Jason can break a major story someday
Unfortunately, βYo brother, legal team confirmed we canβt work with minors rnβ is an instant classic
"I respect Bernie Sanders because he's an open socialist, and you know that he's a communist so you know what you're getting. Rand Paul's a freaking snake. And I understand completely why his neighbor did what he did. And I told him that to his face."
This is what Markwayne Mullin said about Rand Paul a couple weeks ago.
Anyway, guess who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee
Well he certainly didn't pick Mullin for his immigration bonafides.
I think it's perceived as a safe nomination and safe replacement in the Senate, plus Trump likes to reward loyalty (right up until he unceremoniously fires you).
George Orwell, noted evangelist for state-sponsored violence
Kristi Noem misattributing a paraphrase of Rudyard Kipling to George Orwell really does sum it all up huh
Mullin has to be confirmed, right? That should be a fun hearing.
According to Jim Callis on Roger's pod, 40-man guys can't really be volun-told into going to Spring Breakout. So to see Eldridge, Whis, McDonald, and Susacβeach trying to win an ML jobβall on there is surprising to me!
Seems like a signal that Breakout is something the players are into.
A roster like this for the Giants would have been unimaginable, like, two years ago.

Still much more expensive per unit than tiny homes. I donβt love them, but Seattle/KC are also facing a budget crunch so I doubt they have discretionary funds to start buying hotels.
Buying hotels is not permanent housing, and I think you are underrating the cost differences. The funding source for these tiny homes is said to be under $5M, which would probably not buy you even 20 units of apartments in the current market.
I think we have to do both. Because of the failures of Harrell et al to do much to address homelessness or increasing housing demand, we need more total permanent inventory ASAP but people who are on the street now can't wait 3+ years for us to stand up more low income units.
If this represents a true scaling up of investment we will have a much better sense of if they're working here, and with a quick and relatively inexpensive ROI relative to giving people services while they continue to sleep on the street. Meanwhile, standing up an Apodments etc. will take years.
Tiny homes have, if anything, been underutilized as a solution Seattle/Western WA; the prior KCRHA head up until 2024 head opposed them. Plus, it's hard to say if things would be better or worse without them, but they've proven effective in other metros in moving people towards permanent housing.
I agree with all of that basically, though I haven't had direct eyes on Level's play, I just have the understanding that he probably rates behind both Hernandez and Gonzalez and is considered maybe a little compact to fit the traditional SS mold.
That seems like a sober prediction for how they're leveled to open the year. I wonder if we start to see more of Level at 2B, though, and keep him and Kilen apart as well. Just depends on when he's ready to move up
15/10. wag the doggo
This housing is also importantly quick to build, which provides temporary housing faster, which gets people into permanent housing faster.

USA vs. Latvia in playing wheelchair curling. A curler in a wheelchair is pushing a stone with a big stick. They're on ice so there's an assistant holding his wheelchair in place
2 Team USA athletes in wheelchairs holding hands, having a pep talk in front of a crowd. they've got big sticks sticking out of the front of their chairs which they use for pushing the stones
