I look forward to advancing research that informs policies and interventions that support the health and well-being of sexual and gender minority individuals. π
I am also thankful to have had the chance to work with and learn from my amazing coauthors, Mertcan Mutlu and Atulya Arya Kharbanda, without whom this work wouldnβt have been possible!
Iβm especially grateful to have had the opportunity to work under the mentorship of Dr. Benjamin Katz at Stony Brook University. His ongoing guidance and encouragement continue to be one of my strongest sources of academic and professional support.
Working on this project was my first experience toward understanding how LGBTQ+ individuals experience minority stress and its impact on mental health. It also inspired my masterβs thesis on microaggressions, social support, and internalized stigma among Indian SGM population.
Across 253 studies, with over 111,000 participants, we found a small but consistent link between higher social support and lower internalizing symptoms among sexual and gender minority individuals.
I am so excited to share that our paper, βSocial support and internalizing psychopathology among sexual and gender minority individuals: A meta-analysis,β is now published in Clinical Psychology Review! π You can read the open-access article here: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
