Ah. So THREE versions of Jack but no room for Shock.
Who missed the memo on this one? What good is #192 Lock and #193 Barrel without Shock?!? In an assortment of ten thereβs room for just one girl (Sally)? And who is Pajama Jack???
Tori and Kelsey and Bobbie were signing books at Waltβs barn on Sunday. Tori mentioned that Archives was very interested in their photos of the Palm Springs WED house, as it was almost completely undocumented.
And here I am today, 25 years later, once again opening Disney California Adventure. The park and I have barely changedβ¦
This is where I was 25 years ago this morningβ¦ among the first 30 paying guests at the brand new Disneyβs California Adventure park!
This is where I was 25 years ago tonight, looking across the esplanade from #Disneyland park on the freezing cold night before the opening of Disneyβs California Adventure.
Oops. Itβs this one.
Apparently, today is the day we all post our photos with Josh DβAmaro.
I have added an Easter Egg to mine. Have you found where Josh left his signature in the EnginearEar Souvenirs shop?
I was headed to my favorite TV watching chair, only to findβ¦

25 years ago TODAY Downtown Disney officially opened at the new #Disneyland Resort. California Adventure and the Grand Californian would follow on February 8.
Here is my article about the opening days of DtD over at DapsMagic.

Youβve just gotta be sure youβre there when they are opened.

Cat rescue at Disneyland!
While parking, I saw a galloping little critter in my passenger mirror. Just as I realized it was a cat, it leaped sideways into a fence, and tumbled under the cars behind me. She performed the same stunt a couple more times until⦠she was coaxed out and brought in! Whew!

(Granted, this is at DCA, part of the Disneyland RESORT.)
Ssssssshhh!
Donβt feel bad if you havenβt taken your tree down yet. This was at #Disneyland todayβ¦

Painting of birch trees
I donβt have anything festive for the holiday, so hereβs another birch painting I did in 2024.

You will be seeing a lot of vintage photos of Dick van Dyke today, as he celebrates his 100th birthday. Here he is, mugging for the camera with one of his co-stars from Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N. (1966).
Happy birthday!

Down in Irvine they laid out major boulevards to include several stands of these. They always refer to them as windbreaks in social histories.
Today marks the 97th anniversary of Mickey Mouseβs public debut and, according to convention, his birthday. Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!
Landowners? Dominguez (which pretty much everyone knows) and these:
Callen
Claussen
Edwards
Fable
Fall
Hughes
Jarvis
Olding
Peltzer
Reed
Witherill
I found this image in a book in a back room at the Muzeo in Anaheim. It predates the land acquisition, but does not identify the various owners.
And, of course, these were one of two small stands of Eucalyptus that were held over from the original windbreaks that criss-crossed the original orchards on site. Here they are after site prep, before construction. The FL stand is at the top (north). Lower one between City Hall and Jungle Cruise.
I have heard that the most thankless task at Disneyland is being the guy who has to check the base of the Town Square Christmas tree for loose bulbs.
