Retired from health care, now indulging my creative side (woodworking, guitar, singing/songwriting, artistic painting) with a little golf sprinkled in. Lifelong Michigan resident. Trying to stay sane and have fun!

…completely humiliated the sheriff in this congressional hearing, saying to him “wait a minute, you’re telling us that you arrested these men not because they broke the law, but because you THOUGHT they MIGHT break the law?” eliciting laughter from the crowd in the room.

I don’t recall all the specifics, but I remember watching Robert Kennedy, when he was attorney general during the civil rights movement, questioning a southern sheriff who stated he had arrested several African American protesters because he thought they were going to break the law. Kennedy…

I suspect it is, and that a Democrat White House taking over in 2029 will have an important role for her if she has not gained elected office by then.

…inflated salaries. This kind of money is called generational wealth. It breaks down to me being locked out of access as a fan so Cousins’ great-great-great grandchildren never have to work a day in their lives.

Since the average length of a pro football player’s career is about five years I understand the rationale that they should earn as much as they can when able, but I am increasingly disgusted that I can’t afford to go to a game and soon won’t be able to afford to watch on TV because of insanely…

I know nothing about Scruggs, but hopefully he can help us. The draft picks seem to be the capital that our GM Brad Holmes covets. Holmes has a decent reputation for finding solid players in the later rounds of the draft (though not a particularly good report card for first or second round picks).

Here in Michigan, all kinds of fans have been frothing at the mouth for the last two years about how the Lions need to get this guy to pair with Aiden Hutchinson. The question has been at what cost? Who/how much should the team give up in order to get him.

“Abject” is the word that dominates my mind as I consider today’s report. Abject chaos, abject dereliction of duty, abject corruption. We have never seen such depths and hopefully, once this nightmare ends, never will again. Undoubtedly we are living through America’s darkest hour.

Admittedly I don’t seek out or follow stories like this one, but I’m fairly certain there is already a long list of previous failed tests under Trump’s watch. There’s probably a scorecard out there somewhere.

I suspect Dr. Cox-Richardson could devote one post per week on a topic like this but for the high profile crap surrounding Trump that garners so much attention. While I know Trump does act in spite often, your instincts regarding a profit motive are spot on. Quid pro quo is the only Latin he knows.

Sure he has, but who cares? More power to him. Jerry Kramer has been living off playing football for Vince Lombardi for the last sixty years too. If they’re good motivational speakers, my guess is they keep getting gigs.

When it comes to running nations and distributing power, I doubt there is any method or system that in the end doesn’t skew toward one group or another.

As others have commented, the cost of being a sports fan has now entered the unaffordable phase for many (I among them), and is trending toward being a pastime only for the wealthy. Just another example of the stratification of our society into the haves and have-nots.

If ever there was taxation without representation, this is it. Add it to the ever-growing list of impeachable offenses that Trump accumulates on a weekly basis. Unfortunately for us, we’ve hired lawyers (congress) who bill us every month but tell us they can’t or won’t do anything to help us.

Has there ever been a more hated American than Trump? I can’t think of one. Nixon? Joe McCarthy? Jeffrey Dahmer? Ted Bundy? When Trump dies, especially if while in office, I’m pretty sure there will be a celebration in the streets like there was in Europe when Hitler died.

Hard to imagine he wouldn’t in a league where a team hired a 44-year old QB who had been out of the game for six years.

Hard to imagine him not being in serious consideration for the democratic nomination. He checks many boxes including, sad to say, the gender category that otherwise strikes fear into so many blue voters hearts. Pairing him with a woman VP (AOC?) as Biden did would be, as I see it, a likely scenario.

Trumpism has revealed just how weak and corrupt our elected officials (R’s and D’s) and Supreme Court are, pure and simple. Each day of their inactivity is another act of betrayal to the American people. We have an organized crime syndicate operating openly and they don’t even give a shit.

Yep, that fits cuz in addition to preying on children for sex they prey on all weak and defenseless people, take their money, deny them redress and conscript them to servitude in the broadest sense.

I think AOC is great and I’d vote for her in a heartbeat. But I think Democratic leaders must strike the word “should” when addressing this crap as follows: “I WILL BE introducing a resolution for censure for Representative Fine and will lead the charge to have him stripped of his committees…”

I didn’t know there was more than one. Anyway, it was just the greatest upset in the history of sports. I’m guessing you weren’t alive then, so I understand your sarcasm.

It’s the kind of thing you’d see in a Christopher Guest mockumentary. My god, our government is such a friggin cesspool these days!

His behavior these days kind of confirms how I’ve always seen him: someone who either doesn’t understand what’s going on around him or doesn’t give a shit. Still standing there with that ‘What? Me worry?’ look on his face. As presidents go, a pretty dim bulb.

Love it. I’ve kinda lost track - why hasn’t CBS fired him? As I recall they did and then there was huge pushback so they backed off. Isn’t it just a matter of time before they do? In the mean time, you go Stephen!

Last week I posted that in a country of 370 million we can’t seem to find roughly 500 with the ethical integrity to properly lead it. The passengers on that plane would perhaps have been the types to which I refer. Pondering my post and this one further, I’ve decided that it’s the money. From…
