I love that Slow Horses is mainly one spy who strategically makes himself so disgusting that he's effectively invisible and one spy who is unforgettably handsome and is always running top speed and shoving people out of the way shouting MOVE IT, I'M A SPY

Not sure how things are done in the US, but you'd that when your company has a data breach, that could have consequences on an international level, there is an announcement...

Just seen the Clarivate "apology."
The only good thing about it is the fact that I can spend a little more time identifying ways to move away from their ebook offering without making any rash decisions.

Saw the very frustrating Clarivate/Proquest announcement this morning.
Just as well the budget review is coming up. Gives me an excuse to see what other ebook vendors have to offer. Even if I could have done without the extra workload this will cause...

In the past I'd usually post my introspective round up of the previous year. But today I don't want to, mostly because I'm glad to see the back of 2024.

However my wish for the start of a new year is the same for as always for everyone:
May the best of last year be the worst of this year.

I need to figure out a new coping mechanism for work or learn how not to care so much about the service.
I don't want to be a harbinger of doom and gloom but I can only really see a dumpster fire on the horizon...

Feel like I've just jumped into the very deep end of a pool with
#REF2029.
And it's too late to get out the pool.

Spent fair bit of last night and early this morning looking at the snow falling.
Now I have two regrets:
1. I didn't take an photos of snow coating the buildings in the neighbourhood
2. More importantly, I wasn't able to have a braai in the falling snow

Any librarians out there doing or have done the Advanced HEA Fellowship?
I'm looking at doing it, but have questions about a couple aspects and how to translate the work we do into something that's applicable.

I think any literature search training session where I can include dinosaurs in an example to keep students engaged is a good session.

At least you got to the gym. I didn't even get there.

Looking at the new EBSCO UI roadmap.
Looks pretty, but the functionality on the discovery service I actually need to test appears to only be available in July.

Er, how does an Ofsted inspection impact the library?
Asking for a friend...
