I should probably add that this is at Kennesaw State University.

Mom of two, keeper of our own personal zoo, no my house is not close to perfect, yes I sport a laundry tree off season, proud LGBTQ+, and scientist working on endocrinology and prenatal programming. Views are my own. (She/her)
I should probably add that this is at Kennesaw State University.
A call for applications for the Department of Molecular and Cellular faculty positions. A faculty member looks into a microscope while students look on in the background.
Our department is hiring for 4 faculty positions! Come join a growing and dynamic group of scientists in a fun and engaging department!

Male Penguin: I picked up this pebble. Will you mate with me for the rest of our lives?
Male Shrike: I've impaled 10 wild rodents alive on stakes all around the neighborhood for your dining pleasure. How bout it? You, me, a breeding season?
Is it even a contest?
When you have lab technicians ranging from 9-12 years old, you never know what will show up on a board full of of your complex scientific ponderings.
a little brown and white corgi is strapped into his puppy backpack. he and his human are on their way to explore the city. his head is hanging over behind him to look at you with a big smile.
This is Donut. He wanted to pop out and say hi. Wondering where your personal chauffeur is. Said you can borrow his, if you'd like. 13/10
Ha! Yes! Perfect!
Thanks!
After 18 good years, the time has come to say goodbye to UGA. I start my next chapter in July as chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Kennesaw State University. Hereβs to new challenges!
The image is a heatmap titled "Measles," showing measles cases across U.S. states from 1928 to 2003. States listed on the y-axis include Alaska, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The x-axis spans years from 1928 to 2003. A vertical line marks the introduction of the measles vaccine around 1963. The color scale at the bottom ranges from blue (0 cases) to red (4,000+ cases), with shades of green, yellow, and orange indicating intermediate values (1,000, 2,000, 3,000 cases). Before 1963, many states show frequent high case numbers (yellow to red), while after 1963, cases drop significantly, with mostly blue indicating near-zero cases.
And yet Joe Rogan puts guests on who say "Vaccines aren't actually responsible for the reduction in infectious diseases.β
This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. Iβm a well funded investigator, and thereβs no choice. Science canβt function without the stability of NIH
Pet peeve of the day: "This study aims to test whether..."
A study can't aim to do something. Researchers can though.
In the sequel, the kid will happily bounce from bed in the morning, make his own breakfast, and skip off to school. Also, all the socks in the laundry will have a match.
That was a rude response. The question was not whether people are doing things. The leaders are trying. But what can WE do? People truly donβt know. Be nicer and inform.
What action? What exactly can one do other than calling their senators? Our senator doesn't care at all what we think. He's in the tank.
But what exactly do we do that would actually be effective? Avoiding purchases for 24h does nothing. My congressman could care less about our opinions. He's bought. If we knew what to do, we would take steps to do it. Something truly impactful. Not just toddler tantrums.
Hugo the tabby cat, balancing on his hind legs on a window sill. His front paws are both reaching to the sky in a "put 'em up" "praise you" style. He is of course trying to murder me.
It's okay everyone.
I have great news.
I have done it.
I present to you ...
The greatest cat photo ever.
I donβt think we quite know how to act. Our congress folks are in the tank and protests donβt do much.
I agree Zuko!

Me to kid 2 weeks ago: Do you want to go to your school gala? Let me know because youβll need a dress
Kid: No
Me one week ago: You sure you donβt want to go?
Kid: No
Kid at 5:55pm today: Mama! Iβm going to the gala. It starts in 5 minutes! Can you bring me a dress?

a reddish brown vizsla sits on a woodgrain kitchen floor and looks up at the camera with very wide gold eyes. her upper lip is curled up and in on itself, revealing a little row of half a dozen teeth. her large triangular ears frame her expression perfectly.

Yesterday I hired a woman lawyer to work on my will etc and shared that I like to preferentially hire & give money to other women because itβs a small act of resistance. She liked the idea and will be trying the same.
Letβs spread the word and keep increasing the βshe-conomyβ and womenβs wealth. π΅
I've replaced all the water with vegetable broth and chicken broth (either came out really good), and we also add a half cup of olive oil to to the soup. It really boosts the flavor.
So far, Apple maps continues to use Gulf of Mexico if anyone wants to dump Google maps for complying with the ridiculous name change.

Our lab is currently working on wild birds in a state with active avian influenza outbreaks and transgender hormone therapies in the age of the lovely executive orders.
You could say our lab apparently carries the risk taker gene.
