I had someone say that to me about the movie Up once? That it had no females so they couldn't connect with it. I thought, yeah valid critique(bird aside). But I never once though "it's a girl so I can't"
The biggest red flag about Graham's morality is he is both deeply religious, but also thinks HE has to pick up his own god's slack. This is a man who sees White Man's Burden with 0% irony. This is a man who has suffered extremely & not only thinks that's a good thing, but that he should suffer more

I also think in terms of new players and balance. It's easier to have everyone's power levels be about the same if they have the same amount of points. New playerd have no idea if rolls are good or bad. Players also have more freedom to divvy up their stats, as opposed to switching them around.
I think the dice vs point buy question is much easier to answer, because one can be frustrating(dice rolls, ESPECIALLY in video games. in ttrps the randomness is more acceptable, as people are limited by social situations and a dm's discretion. a game you can just sit there for hours.)
It really depends.
In my game, (a CRPG) I have a stats cap out at 6 at character creation. But those limits can be bypassed with traits that have pros/cons.
There is no one size fits all. This might work for my game but maybe not yours!

Yeah, as a creator of "indie things" I still see a purpose and find great enjoyment in the bits of artistry that get through the cracks in a AAA context. This goes for movies, games, comics, everything. If it's made by a person, it has potential for humanity.
