Life Goals!
1) Sell the screenplay that @joshruben.bsky.social and I wrote for my children’s book “Maury the Miserable Vampire”.
2) Use the money to take a trip to Broken Hill, Australia and beat the living shit out of the rental car at Mad Max locations.

Shout has not given them the restoration.
They claim it is from “the American interpositive”. There is no record of them ever having access to it. The licensor of the film has never heard of them. 🤷♂️
I will never understand the people who watched the Indiana Jones films where there were ghosts melting faces, a cult ripping hearts out of people that were still alive, a 700 year old knight guarding a cup that grants eternal life, but then were like, “Woah. Aliens and time travel? That’s too far.”l
I was working on something with the legendary @thejoedante.bsky.social when an old friend of his suddenly stopped by to show us what he’s got. All were impressed!

All the kudos in the world to the team at @criterion.bsky.social for making Eyes Wide Shut look exactly the way it did in theaters in 1999. This is worlds apart from any other home video release and they should be extremely proud of their work.

There is a line that is so funny, I actually wrote it down.
I won’t say what it is because everyone needs to hear it in context.
I've seen The Shining a million times but it has NEVER hit the way that it did in this format.
It's like he specifically made this film for IMAX. The framing, the steadicam shots, the sound.... my god, the sound... it was so unnerving. Can’t wait to see it again!

You know that little graphic that says “LEAVING SOON” on streaming apps and then you have to find out which app the film has gone to (if it even does)?
You don’t have to do any of that with physical media. You actually OWN the movie and can watch it any time you want.
The music nerd side of me is really hoping that James Gunn makes the executive decision to play XTC’s “That’s Really Super, Supergirl” over the end credits.
Go to the movies this weekend! There’s lots of great stuff out there right now. Show Netflix that you reject their take that movie theaters are “an outdated concept”!
If this isn’t nominated for Best Picture, there’s something seriously wrong.
