Congrats to Rep. @katiejonesmpls.bsky.social and family, who biked to the hospital last week and came back with baby Hans. Here's what she told me about the ride:

Read @adamserwer.bsky.social on elite impunity. IMO this is the biggest issue in US politics, the one that underlies all others. It gets too little discussion, because discourse is so heavily governed by precisely the elites who favor the impunity, but beneath the surface, pressure is building.

Two things to know once gates open: 1) We will be holding silence for the first two minutes of the match in memory of the lives ended or destroyed by the federal government in Minnesota this year. 2) Following the silence, we're going to do a modified version of Bella Ciao: In Minnesota, We raise our voices, For us all, for us all, for us all, all, all Your ears are ringing For we are singing For our friends and neighbors too
In case you’re just waking up, the U.S. has teamed up with Israel overnight to start an illegal war of regime change, apparently on a presidential whim with no involvement of Congress, and they are already committing horrific atrocities.
I was going to bring the Saint Paul Liberation Front flag to the Loons game tomorrow but was told it was banned for being “divisive.” It is “political” and “violent.”
…
Yet another good reason to take public transit to the game tomorrow!
If you do drive, leave plenty of time. Parking around Allianz is going to be rough at best.
Riding Through the Thick of It.

Interested in this--the important piece seems to be that the range impacts of cold weather on BEBs seem to be decreasing as time goes on. But! Mandatory 15-min dwell time to recharge at the end of a route, or midday return to garage, are *major* operational inefficiencies. grist.org/transportati...
Thanks—it seems like a strange thing to incentivize based on the added expense and inconsistency with other public goals
DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIXED FEELINGS?
Wild—which funding sources typically carry these requirements? Private lenders, grant programs, others?
Seems like an enormous missed opportunity!
Proposals show 141 or 215 new parking spaces for a site that is:
- adjacent to B Line at Lake & Nicollet
- 1 block from Orange Line at 35W & Lake St
- adjacent to Route 18 returned to Nicollet (proposed K Line Arterial BRT)
- adjacent to protected bikeway on 1st Ave
- 1 block from Midtown Greenway

NEW: Six out of ten new EU city buses were zero-emission in 2025, led by four countries where 100% of new buses were battery-electric: Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia & Latvia.
That’s a huge leap from just 12% in 2019 when the EU adopted the Clean Vehicles Directive.

Okay it’s possible I’m exposing my child to too much soccer at the expense of other activities
Since the ICE surge started, I’ve asked nearly everyone why they thought Minnesota was the target, beyond immigration or fraud claims. Basically, the state is anathema to the Trump administration - strong social safety net, open to immigrants, collective culture. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
WATCH: “This administration made a bet—and they keep making it—that most Americans, the majority of us, are as bigoted as Stephen Miller. And they’re wrong,” says Chris Hayes as the Trump administration says it’s ending its ICE surge in Minneapolis.
I’m relieved that this violent paramilitary force will be removed from our streets, but I won’t believe it until they're actually gone.
Minnesotans deserve justice and accountability, and I won’t stop until we get it.
My household is supporting a South Minneapolis family unable to work or leave home due to ICE. If we can raise some or all of their $1600 rent, we can avoid drawing from high-demand assistance funds and ensure there's more to go around.

Living in Minnesota right now feels like being in the emergency room. Literally everyone is suffering in different ways, even if it's "just" a badly twisted ankle rather than a kidney stone or a full-on heart attack. The staff are working as hard as they can but energy and resources are dwindling.
Wild fact from @billmckibben.bsky.social's latest newsletter:
"The last colder-than-average month on planet earth was in February of 1985, which means that no one under the age of forty has ever known one."
Looks like it… I don’t see any Alerts suggesting that there are any service changes there
Martin, an 18-year-old citizen and soccer player, traveled with his Madison-area team to Minneapolis for a Futsal tournament (which my kid's team was going to play in, then opted out). While there, ICE stopped Martin and took his mom, who has been detained since.
