I've been seeing the phrase "grippy socks" a lot lately and oh... I would have never guessed the meaning. I always just assumed it was a weird fetish thing or something. Whoops ๐

All right, then. Keep your secrets, Copilot.
Man I hate this kind of abbreviation style so much. I wish could see "cntnts" as "contents", but my brain is like "nope, it's cuntnuts" ๐ญ
Updating to the latest Nvidia drivers broke my PC. I'd just get a black screen where I could only see my mouse cursor. It was a pain to rollback the driver in that state.
Apparently this is a very common issue and has been going on for months. What's Nvidia doing over there? ๐ญ
GIMP 3.0 is out and they finally fixed the UI scaling! Maybe I can actually comfortably use it now ๐ Let's give it another try.
Here's the before/after for me on a 4k monitor:
One other thing is that I couldn't stand PowerShell. I switched to nushell a few years back and never looked back. I'm even considering trying it on macOS so that it remains a constant no matter what OS I'm using. Less context switching is always welcome to me.
I run into minor annoyances like \r\n newlines every now and then. And "path too long" errors. Those kind of things.
But besides that nothing too notable.
I never went all out with WSL like one of my coworkers does. I only use WSL for one-off tasks when I can't be bothered to set up an infrequently used CLI tool or whatever on Windows. Or when I'm debugging stuff for Scala Native or GraalVM native-image.
Honestly not as bad as I was initially expecting it to be. I don't even feel it most of the time. But that's probably because I'm almost exclusively doing pure JVM work.
The pain really sets in once I have to do anything native. Luckily that's rare for me.
It should be coming soon. I'm curious how I'll like it. The reason I switched off MacBook was because I had an absolutely terrible experience with the generation with that awful butterfly keyboard and touchpad. It broke multiple times for me.
Anyway hoping for the best ๐
After 4 years of using Windows for work, I'm going back to a MacBook. Company just ordered a new M4 with practically everything maxed out (except 64gb instead of 128gb). It's ridiculous expensive, especially with the exchange rate. Nearing 5000 USD ๐ญ Glad I'm not paying for it.
Yeah, that's actually impressive ๐
Great, my left earbud isn't charging for some reason and the only remaining "solution" I can find online is this ๐ญ
The state of Twitter is dire. I haven't been posting much lately but even just reading stuff on there is tiring. Like a person I follow will make an innocuous post and then the comments will be full of random angry comments. I know Twitter has always had a reputation but it was never this bad.
Well I hope it was at least backend logs and not frontend like my coworker ๐
but it's always fun discovering how each person does their print debugging. Everyone has their own unique flair ๐
Still better than one of my past coworkers who would write obscene stuff the longer their debugging session went on as the frustration set in ๐ฌ
I couldn't help myself when reviewing my coworker's PR
Yeah exactly. Apparently this Russian company makes stationery products and decided to use Japanese for this notebook cover. And well, many mistakes were made... ๐ Still wondering how they managed that one though.

Well this is looking chaotic. How many more typhoons can we fit in here?
Hopefully I didn't return just in time for a megaquake though...
Anyway, I don't think long trips like this are for me. I think my upper limit is like 3 weeks. Ideally 2. I realized I just can't relax and feel comfortable when I'm away from home.
Finally back in Japan after 6 weeks in the US.
1. damn it's hot here (and apparently it was way worse while I was gone?)
2. I gained quite a bit of weight (as expected... ๐
)
3. my flight was great, the 3 seats around me were all empty and nobody behind me either
I'm currently in California. I saw a Japanese grocery store so I decided to check it out because I was curious. I entered and literally every single person was either in cosplay or wearing an anime shirt. Like full on french maid outfits and stuff. I felt weirdly underdressed ๐
Yeah it does ๐
Their "CG style" characters have a certain look to them that's similar across most of the games.
The in-game art has a lot more variety but it didn't really make sense to blend different art styles together so I didn't even try.
I remember everyone was saying "that's just Cloud and Tifa" at the time too so I removed both of them completely from the average and got this instead:
