The newer games are wildly different from the original games actually. If you're seriously interested in Requiem, I'd highly recommend playing Resident Evil 2 remake, then Resident Evil 4 remake first just to catch up on story. You can also play Resident Evil 3 remake, but that one isn't necessary.

Just finished Resident Evil Requiem. Jesus, this might legitimately be the best Resident Evil game I've ever played. Insane catharsis for me, who's played these games and followed this story for decades. Seriously, Leon's experience in particular is an RE fan's dream <3
