OMG. I went to one in Reno that had a day long “sharpen your tech skills” seminar the day before the conference started. It was 8-hours with a lunch break and two short breaks. The information provided was so basic I was bored out of my mind! I learned zero new info.
This! It’s a separate evil thing. We are capable of being enraged about multiple things at the same time, you know! Every new horror is called a “distraction” and this now feels to me like a weak dismissal because the people affected are not white.
This is important. I used to work in TV news as live news director. 911 destroyed me and I went numb as a survival mechanism to survive 12 hour days in the news studio coordinating the relentless on-air reporting. That’s when I knew I had to get out and I did. I can’t be numb. I need to feel.

My dog Grizz gets half of a sildenafil for pulmonary hypertension 3 times a day 8am, 4pm, and midnight. FYI- the brand name of sildenafil is Viagra. I have four phone alarms for this and his other six meds. To lighten the mood, I’ve started saying “Oh boy Grizz! It’s time for your dick pill!”
That tofu skin chkn noodle soup from a few weeks ago is my favorite thing right now. I added a splash of lemon. Yummm. A little drizzle of garlicky olive oil on the top makes it really shine.
Well deserved. And she is absolutely radiant in that shade of blue!
