I didn’t believe the old guy as he used to send me to the foreman to ask for a straight S hook or a long stand.

Reminds me that teenage me worked on a building site where an old guy told me how ne helped lay out generators and strings of bulbs on the Yorks Moors as a decoy town to expend WWII German bombs.
I thought that was untrue until a podcast last year confirmed it.
