Overkill. The Roses exploded with their own sound whereas PS were really really good at making music in styles that were already established. They’re to me what the Primitives were compared to MBV in the Sundae era.
Also Ian on record is absolutely perfect but yeah live he’s a mess lol.
Primal Scream experimented with sounds record to record from 87-91 but they always played it straight, the Roses were simply far more potent on one record and some EP’s. Having Resurrection, Fool’s Gold, Adored, She Bangs the Drums, This is the One on ONE album is absolutely incredible and downright
Female Species are such a fuckikg good band. Chinchilla Hat is a perfect pop song.

Truth is they’re just sooooo much more talented and better produced than any c86 band, like John Squire and Reno are absolutely world class, it’s hard comparing such a talented group to a band like Biff Bang Pow! yknow?
