also seems like an explanation for the trans sports panic - parents turn into vicious monsters protecting their investments
the "60 Minutes" puff piece that came out before the Epstein files was so bad, he was dropping theories (that would take 50 years of research to prove) and bragging how he has lined up a bunch of rich people to pay him $200k to be their "longevity guru" (which, alas, didn't work out for Epstein)

not that it's a favorite, but curious as to what aspect was so revolting!

there's one location (#47) that didn't have an address that I actually drove around looking for in Newport Beach (which has only a small industrial area, so figured I might get lucky, but alas). Newport Beach is a bit out of the zone of the rest of the dots, but that's where LB was born.
the box set (drool) is for the real fans and should be $$$, but Steidl should at least keep a paperback of Industrial Parks in print!
one takeaway from looking at the locations is: buildings that seemed shoddy or short term look strikingly similar to how they looked over 50 years ago. and to @tylergreenbooks.bsky.social point about nihilism and concentration camps - temporary becomes permanent.
if you want to see what the locations in the book look like today (or are in Orange County and want to rephotograph them) I made a map of nearly every place in the book.

wonderful SF arts news - local treasure Randall Kline of SFJAZZ has managed to secure funding for 100 units of subsidized housing for artists and their families. Good Dexter Gordon anecdote behind the project.
