$20B from Treasury for Argentina
$1B to refurbish Trump's Qatar jet
$300M on Kristi Noem's jets

Trump fires Homeland Security Secretary Noem after mounting criticism over her leadership Oklahoma Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin says he has no idea how quickly his nomination to replace Kristi Noem at the Department of Homeland Security will move.

We’re glad that Kristi Noem has been fired and she should face real accountability for DHS’ rampant violence.

But Noem’s firing doesn’t suddenly solve the crisis at DHS. Swapping personnel without changing course is not accountability — it’s a spin tactic. What we really need is structural change.

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.

That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

People do not want this.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

Black-and-white formal portrait of Alva Myrdal (1902–1986), the Swedish diplomat, sociologist, politician, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She is photographed against a dark background, resting her chin thoughtfully on her left hand, which displays a large, ornate ring. Her expression is calm, wise, and slightly introspective, with deep-set eyes, fine lines of age, and a gentle smile. Her silver-gray hair is styled in a soft, voluminous updo typical of the mid-20th century, and she wears a dark tailored jacket or dress with a simple collar, along with a distinctive metal wristwatch on her left arm. Alva Myrdal was a pioneering figure in social policy, women's rights, and international disarmament. With her husband Gunnar Myrdal, she co-authored the influential 1934 book Kris i befolkningsfrågan (Crisis in the Population Question), which shaped Sweden's progressive family and welfare policies. She served as Sweden's Minister for Disarmament and Church Affairs (1966–1973), headed UNESCO's social science department, and played a key role in the United Nations. In 1982, she shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Alfonso García Robles for her lifelong work on nuclear disarmament and peace advocacy through organizations like the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and Pugwash Conferences. Known for her intellectual rigor, feminist principles, and commitment to global justice, she remains an icon of principled leadership in diplomacy and social reform.#AlvaMyrdal #NobelPeacePrize #Disarmament #SIPRI

A Haitian asylum seeker died in ICE custody after being held for 4 months. One local official said the man, Emmanuel Damas, had died after not getting timely medical care for an infected tooth. He is at least the 10th detainee to die this year.

Balint to Noem: "You're the secretary of DHS -- for now. And you think you're immune from accountability. But I promise you this: one day he is not gonna be president anymore. And when that day comes, we will still be here. And in hearings like this, we are going to continue to prove your guilt."

to listen to Donny prattle on, you wouldn’t even know that right now, people are dying in an unnecessary, unprovoked and illegal war — one that he and his fucked-up friend Netanyahu started.

The vote on Rep. Massie and my WPR comes down to this. Are you with Lindsey Graham who was for the regime change war in Iraq, Libya and now Iran, or are you with those Americans who are tired of being dragged into wars in the Middle East and want us to focus on jobs and healthcare at home?

Sepia-toned 1861 photograph by André-Adolphe-Eugène Disdéri of Jeanne Villepreux-Power (1794–1871), pioneering French marine biologist and inventor of the glass aquarium. She stands in three-quarter profile facing left, leaning elegantly on a tall decorative pedestal vase adorned with flowers. She wears a formal Victorian gown with a fitted bodice of intricate black lace over dark fabric, long lace sleeves, and a voluminous hoop-skirted skirt. Her dark hair is styled in a low chignon, and she gazes thoughtfully to the side in a studio setting with a neutral backdrop.

Her sealed tanks (with aeration & water stability) enabled live observation of sea creatures, which was revolutionary in marine research. #WomenInSTEM #WHM (1/2)
