not sure if you'd find it useful (and you already may be aware), there's a moderation thingy (my words aren't working) that blocks twitter & Bluesky screenshots. it's not 100%, but it's cut down on a lot of that stuff for me.

I kid, but it was reassuring when ages ago, I tripped over a conversation on securely fastening sex furniture to the wall/floor to reduce tip hazard, how to check for circulation concerns, quick release knots & the right scissors to keep nearby etc

OSHA compliant kink, just because it's NSFW doesn't mean you shouldn't have workplace safety in mind.

I can't tell if it's the wording or just that I started out fond of the Girl Scouts but they seem to be the only ones whose "you bought something from us, thanks! While I'm here, would you like to buy more from us?" Emails don't annoy me

I like the theory going around Tumblr that Friday 13th March 2020 was the start of the Stupid Timeline, and maybe Friday 13th March 2026 will fix it.

Friday 13th March 2020, I was meant to be going to a BSL movie screening at local art gallery. It was the first event I saw outright cancelled.

This is actually really sad. To have your own self-doubt and self-hatred used to turn you against others is profoundly depressing. But she also has choice, and she chose to allow herself to take this path.
Either way *learn from new info ffs*. 4 years and can’t find people - maybe take a hint.

Don’t know how common it is but I keep seeing stories of international adoptees facing immigration action b/c of paperwork errors by adoptive parents or agencies from when they were brought to the U.S. and it really shows how hard the bureaucracy of migration is to navigate even for people from here

This is one of my favorite grave decorations in Arras. More personalized dioramas celebrating professions, please.

long stretch of worked roman stone on Hadrian's Wall.

long stretch of worked roman stone on Hadrian's Wall.

If you ask someone today to name the builder of Hadrian's Wall, they would give you a funny look. But historical memory is odd, and right up to the 1800s we forgot who built it.

Until in 1840 John Hodgson, an obscure Northumbrian clergyman, published the LONGEST footnote in history... 1/22

Just realized the "problematic kink/media" thing is literally just the "video games make you violent" argument with a different coat of paint.

People playing shooters dont actually wanna shoot people by default, they're playing a game.

You can fill in the blanks with any kink, it's always the same

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 URGENT ACTION ON BOOK BAN LEGISLATION FOR IDAHO. 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

Please read the full thread.

Legislators have proposed yet another bill that would undermine the purpose of libraries statewide, and it would not only eschew the Miller Test, it'd create TWO CLASSES of access.

Because they want real education in private schools and propaganda in public schools.

Once again, showing their hand on dismantling public education.

Even if you’re not going to mask in public at all times, there are certainly circumstances in which masking has always made a lot of sense for anyone who is concerned about becoming ill. From here on out, even if covid disappeared tomorrow, I’d continue to mask in several high-risk settings.

No U.S. states had a record cold winter. Nine had a record hot one Though it may surprise East Coasters, the story of this winter was not record cold but record heat

Winter is back for those of us in the Northeast, who are probably getting pretty sick of the cold at this point. But here's the thing--it wasn't actually that cold, historically speaking. And uh, sorry to the folks out West πŸ§ͺ

On another layer of issues with genAI toys for toddlers

13.03.2026 12:42 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

We've already got adults getting themselves in trouble because they think genAI chatbots are 1) people 2) can be trusted to make decisions for them; how about we don't give them to children so small they're already not clear on their toys not being alive. Best case, it's an imagination killer

I am old enough to remember the vitriol directed at random humanities scholars' work complaining about the totalizing tendencies of capitalism to corrupt, colonize, or co-opt everything. I also lived long enough to read long term coverage of the literal attempt to privatize thinking in the newspaper

The Harms Committed starter pack includes every source currently on Bluesky.

This thread provides additional information about each source and how to support them.

I'm going to have to work on sleep hygiene again but I swear it's easier to think in the late evening even when I'm tired, which is annoying since work starts in the early morning. People toss studies on shift work at me when I say it, but sometimes I do miss working the overnight shift.

But all that is an issue for future!me. Tomorrow!me just needs to decide if I had a reason beyond "cute" for limiting the size of the main div rather than just where the lines wrap. Also still not clear on if I'm overthinking in page navigation or it's really just a centered ol with a backgroundπŸ”š

Most embeds are basically hot linking with permission and the creators preferred styling. Which is great until they move the wrong thing for silly stuff like "it's been half a decade, they're allowed to update their sites occasionally too". +I'm not sure museums & gov sites won't cut important bits🧡

13.03.2026 05:00 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Also, given just how small the old version of my site ended up, I think I'm going to actively poke at the rights of things I'm currently using embeds for to see what I can host myself. Simply copying the embed from the share button has advantages, the link rot is real. 🧡
