I understand there are billions of people on the planet but a part of me wishes the internet was a niche hobby again so that finding new handles wasn't so difficult.
It's petty, I know.

in my observation, what actually moves book sales on social media (any platform) is the author themself having fun, being themself, showing off their interests and their work. doing it in a natural way can be hard! but if it's all "BUY MY BOOK!" and marketing graphics, that tends to get stale
