With Kristi Noem out at DHS, I am featuring bank notes with vignettes of good dogs. The first has a dog guarding a safe and the second (in German for the local PA community) has a lumberjack petting his companion. Omaha & Chicago Bank, NE, $2, May 1, 1861 and Lumbermens Bank, Warren, PA, $10, 18--.

I was the back cover model for the 1991 Walgreens annual stock report.

Vermont became the 14th state OTD in 1791, so I am celebrating with these Vermont bank notes featuring cow vignettes. The first has a black and white with long horns and the second includes an absolute unit. Bank of Rutland, VT, $1, May 23, 1825 & Passumpsic Bank, St. Johnsbury, VT, $1, May 1, 1858.
Looks like someone born in New Jersey is going to win the Copa del Rey this year.
Sounds like you need the full size Cadbury eggs. The mini ones don't cut it on a travel day.

It is the anniversary of the Kentucky Meat Shower of 1876 (look it up if don't know what it is), so I am celebrating with this Civil War era shinplaster from a meat and grocery store that featured a cow's head on the note. Page & Martin's Meat and Grocery Store, Manchester, NH, $.02, Nov. 25, 1863.

What would Stephens know, it is not like he was a cornerstone of the secessionist cause.
It is Casimir Pulaski Day in Illinois and he appears here with an excellent moustache on a bank note from Georgia, where he was mortally wounded in 1779 while leading a calvary charge during the Siege of Savannah. Marine Bank of Georgia, Savannah, GA, $10, 18--.
Second the idea of going to Dinics at Reading Terminal Market instead.

For some reason this reminds me of an antebellum newspaper article I read that reported on a steamboat explosion. It mentioned that tens of thousands of dollars of bank notes enroute back to the bank for redemption were onboard and had been destroyed (so the bank never had to pay out on them).
I am looking forward to the day my infectious disease physician wife retires and starts the sourdough.
What makes this all the more noticeable is that the deaths in Afghanistan occurred during something Americans overwhelmingly wanted (withdrawing from a war), while the deaths here are occurring during something Americans overwhelmingly do not want (starting a war).
The MST3K version is excellent.

It should be more of an issue that a US senator is less informed of foreign affairs than Marge Simpson was 30 years ago.
Sounds like someone needs a Fribble.
It is Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's birthday today and while the poet did not appear on a bank note, the subject of his famous "Paul Revere's Ride" does. Revere is shown warning a minuteman in this late Civil War era vignette. Rhode Island Union Bank, Newport, RI, $20, January 10, 1865. ποΈ
If you crossed Eisenhower with Ed Asner.
Looks a bit like this picture of Eisenhower:
