Oh god. Oh fuck.
Oh god. Oh fuck.
The question of if a country could fuck itself harder than the UK did with Brexit has today been answered.

Worth a look for those new to Bluesky.
verifying identity to get an account back is legal and fairly normal (tho a bit invasive for my liking) my guess is a lot of people report palestinian donation links as scams which unfortunately effects some legit ones. I don't think it's fair to see it as bluesky going after palestinians though
Irish people around the globe are calling for looser restrictions around the postal vote system, eager to have their say on Ireland's future, a country that most hope to return to in the future
Have a lot in common with Fianna Fรกil, in that we're both trying to partner with a fine Gael
Problem for Fianna Fรกil and Fine Gael is, if pick Independent Ireland and other independents to go into Government, they arenโt sufficiently identifiable as the fall guys in the fashion of Labour or Greens, come the next election.

missed their chance let's make sure they never get another ๐ซก
Is it my imagination or was it a demand of the student movement in the 90s and 00s that elections take place at the weekend to facilitate getting home to vote?
With the crazy commutes most people do now, and voting trends among young people, is it not crazy #GE24 took place on a working Friday?
My take on a terrible day for #GreenParty in #GE24: A Fianna Fail TD once told me he "love(d) working with the Greens because they were like Kamikaze politicians" -i.e. They knew the would not survive next election so they killed themselves to get as much done as possible. ๐งต #GE2024
Suppose the bright side is that, once again Ireland has shown a big middle finger to the far right #GE24

Perhaps before arguing for compulsory turnout, we could consider that a party leader couldnโt vote yesterday because she was in hospital having a baby. How about we widen access to postal votes & deal with the state of the electoral register first and see what that does to turnout? #ge24
When you realise that Holly Cairns couldn't vote, being busy on the Labour Ward, it might be time to reflect on our postal voting rules #GE24
Great photo ๐คฃ captures a lot.
You know what I like about #GE24 in ๐ฎ๐ช?
We donโt have armed guards, people screaming and threatening
- unlike a recent poll to our west.
There is energy, vitality a bit of fun & interest.
We need to make sure and protect those positive things!
During this election, Holly Cairns has proven, she is the only politician that can deliver.

Days like this, I always briefly wonder how the Brits can STAND first-past-the post when they miss this craic

a certain number of people are going to get elected no matter what, leaving them blank won't just make the seat evaporate. again your lower preferences cant effect your higher ones so you may as well have a say all the way down. its your vote up to you but it is mathematically most effective
Brigid Delaney, one of Ireland's oldest voters, celebrated her 100th birthday by casting her ballot in Carlow today during the general election.
