Toronto! I'm coming to visit The Power Plant Gallery this Saturday afternoon to talk about how my recent books and life experiences connect with two current exhibits by artists Jeneen Frei Njootli and Lucy Raven. It's free and open to everyone! www.thepowerplant.org/whats-on/cal...
We were playing Gloomhaven over the holidays, and I said I’d Leroy the room and my kids didn’t understand 😢
Me, several beers deep at an event, “I don’t really want to do collabs with straight white guys ‘cause I’d rather showcase diversity and hang out with people who don’t look like me. Uhhhhh, sorry?” Hahaha, they should never let me loose.
It’s how I found out I have cancer! Bloodwork is a fucking miracle.
Man, we live in a goofy timeline. I got downvotes on Reddit for saying things like, “You can get your antibody titers tested during routine bloodwork,” and, “Routine bloodwork is something everyone should get done because cancer screening.”
South Dakota's "Meth. We're on it" campaign
I'll always remember Kristi Noem for the "Meth. We're on it." campaign.
A torbie looks up at my daughter. The kitty’s face is in profile, lit brightly by the sun.
Yeah, this cat loves my kid.
Local, and all time great beer person @bdiversitygroup.bsky.social, gets a shoutout here for trying make better an industry that famously sucks. May James Watt rest in piss. That scumbag helped set the tone that encouraged craft breweries worldwide to be shitty.
I’ve got one of those treatable / not curable cancers. The worst part is living with a countdown timer before treatment starts and then knowing that, inexorably, the next countdown is death once the treatment stops working. My heart goes out to Campbell. #FuckCancer
The HPV vaccine is durably AMAZING.A massive Swedish registry study w 18 years of follow-up found no waning protection against invasive cervical cancer. If vaccinated before age 17, cancer risk is cut by ~80%. Even those vaccinated later still had substantial protection.

£40M for a former unicorn is something else.
I’m sensing a “Dancing in Spite of Impending Doom for People with Mysterious Back Ailments” party at a con!
Melt the Guns by XTC. I’m starting to think it’s a miracle we made it out of the ‘80s.
World War 3 by DOA. May have been released in 1979 (like London Calling), but it’s got the vibe.
Small Parts Isolated and Destroyed by Nomeansno.
I remember there being Serious Talk about Regina’s air raid sirens as a kid. And talking heads going on about nuclear winter. But bomb shelters weren’t much of a thing in Regina — most of the city is in an old river valley and skews swampy.
A score on a loaf of bread 🥖 opened up in the oven and revealed a mouth.
I didn’t do a great job shaping my loaves and uhhhh apologies for unleashing a Doughburster. I’m sure we’ll be fine. Gonna find the cat carriers just in case.
Behind the scenes, modern west coast IPAs are often brewed with lager yeasts. 34/70’s a popular one. That shit’s every bit as weird as SNPA winning awards as an ESB despite being The Classic Example of an American pale ale. Strange times.
Congrats!
Dish of Neurons is going to be the name of my Dukes of Stratosphear tribute band.
For anyone who needs a bite of cuteness to interrupt the rage scrolling, here’s a beaver happily going about its business in Lake Ontario.
One of my favourite lines about the Prairies is The Weakerthans’ “A darker grey breaking through a lighter one.” So, so grey.
Saskatchewan having but 2 syllables is the one that gets my kids.
A gentleman pours a pale ale from a tap. Random keg equipment is on the bar top.

The oldest known fossilized amniote cloaca. (Lorenzo Marchetti/Natural History Museum, Berlin)
The resting trace of an early reptile. (Lorenzo Marchetti/Natural History Museum, Berlin)
At the tip of this arrow, there is a 290 million years old impression of a cloaca from a fossilised reptile of the Goldlauter Formation in Germany.
It’s the oldest known butthole.

The English have a lot of things to apologize for. EKG is not among them.
Holy shit. Shingrix is a fucking miracle. Get vaccinated, folks.
“They compared dementia rates among nearly 66,000 people who received the Shingrix vaccine and over 260,000 unvaccinated matched controls. The researchers found that the vaccinated group had a 51 percent lower risk of dementia compared to the unvaccinated controls.”
