Very, very good. Almost absurdly so. Composed of only 30 long takes over 2.5 hours, some of which are wildly dynamic. Slow moving but with this constant drum of motion that feels inescapable. Really amazing film and worth seeing
A series of two reviews on the social film reviewing website Letterboxd . The first, for Bela Tarr's 2011 feature The Turin Horse, reads as follows: Really fucking scary. I dislike media that portrays nihilism as something as thin as "a way of thinking" ; most of that type of discussion feels like the last gasps of onanistic white men who are so steeped in their privilege and burnt out on drugs that they have decided for themselves that nothing is worth anything anymore, and worse, that that is somehow a subversive and interesting take on life and meaning itself (See: that one monologue in 'A Ghost Story' [2017]) . I have to therefore assume that this film is Tarr's attempt at explaining himself: not to tell anybody how to think, but to assert that if one is not a nihilist themselves, then they must have very good reasons. Or, then, that our default state of living is misery; any further than that and it is of our own design. And, to some extent, we must all feel that pulsating hum in the wind, the elements beating against us, pulling us down, and without any help we may be subsumed by that wind. Anything could feel helpless after enough of that, even a horse. In that sense, suffering is elemental, as in it is present constantly. A part of creation, a part of even the myth, as to suffer is to become unholy. And we become venomous through it, defensive, and less conducive to joy, freedom; holiness. I, for one, embrace unholiness, embrace suffering, and find joy in (and past) it. As emo and boring as it sounds, this is how I survived being a teenager. But yeah, if I was a lonely Hungarian potato farmer with a really annoying suicidal horse, I'd probably kill myself. "On the seventh day, they rested..." The second, a review for My Little Pony, Equestria Girls, reads the word "Marijuana" in all caps.
inside me there r two dogs or whatever
