The masks keep coming off.

The party of fiscal discipline was never interested in fiscal discipline. They were just appalled that non-whites might benefit from “their” tax dollars.

Not sure. Coders code, as we knew, because they love to code. There’s a certain brand of people that need the high-intensity creative trial-and-error.

I get the sense that coders may still code after the equilibrium of expertise resets, and the market reorganizes. It will just be atop AI code.

That’s about the size of it. Is that a death penalty thing, or…?

In a lifetime, I was given the opportunity to push Clarence Thomas into the Hudson on a Circle Line wedding cruise, toss a drunk Rudy Giuliani down the stairs at Peter Luger's, and pour a fine Chilean red over Henry Kissinger at Le Bernadin. The cost of my conscience to the republic is considerable.

As irritated as Tom gets at these replies, and as much as I wish for him to protect his mental health by forsaking social media…

…I sometimes feel like he lives for shutting down the people who sound off on erroneous premises.

This seems like a thing where you’d need a specific assassinations-don’t-count policy posted somewhere…

Presidents and VPs are civilians. They should not salute. It’s a breach of respectful protocol.

Have they ever saluted at Dover, where up until recently cameras have been off limits?

Somewhere along the line we lost the distinction between entertainers, and people who know shit.

Been thinking more abt this. The only one whose association with racist/elitist pseudoscience really surprised me was Chomsky, because he spent his career seemingly arguing in the other direction.

The enemy is reactionism; the idea that a certain elect are special equity holders in society.

When you vote Republican, you reliably vote for:
1) A criminal war-of-choice
2) A crashed economy
3) Both

How is this idea still surviving that the GOP knows anything about business, stability, or economic growth?

It’s obviously and foreseeably the opposite.

Conservatism Cheat Sheet:
"We can dictate how things are because..."

Christian Nationalist -> "We've got the right God"
Libertarian -> "We make more money"
Intl. -> "We've got bombs"
Burkean -> "We've always dictated them"
Social -> "We're white"
Bro -> "We're apex"
MAGA -> "WTF are you gonna do?"

When Anne Applebaum suggests reading material, smart people listen.

Part of me is still baffled by why billionaires would seek pseudointellectual company and rationalization.

They’re billionaires. They don’t have to care about raisons d’etre.
