Good article. This clown show was well noticed by Americans (and everyone else) in Qatar and made us furious, even those who like myself were intent on staying put.

there may be something wrong with me
Hopefully not. I’m seeing so many expressions of gratitude and patriotism by non-citizens. Inshallah that will prevail
This very straight news piece buried deep within the FT never uses words like corruption or insider dealing but every detail is quietly devastating. Why is the FT virtually alone in the UK media in covering this important story?
I know so many people who would jump at that. Many have been working on Golden Visas as a step out of 2 year cycles and as a way to sponsor their parents. There are always levels of citizenship with / without a family book. This would be a great next step (and seems unlikely)
5/ And on the Strait of Hormuz, they had NO PLAN. I can't go into more detail about how Iran gums up the Strait, but suffice it say, right now, they don't know how to get it safely back open.
Which is unforgiveable, because this part of the disaster was 100% foreseeable.
4/ Ok, so what ARE the goals? It seems, primarily, destroying lots of missiles and boats and drone factories.
But the question that stumped them: what happens when you stop bombing and they restart production?
They hinted at more bombing. Which is, of course, endless war.
3/ Second, they confirmed "regime change" is also NOT on the list. So, they are going to spend hundreds of billions of your taxpayer dollars, get a whole bunch of Americans killed, and a hardline regime - probably a MORE anti-American hardline regime - will still be in charge.
2/ Maybe the lead is that the war goals DO NOT involve destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program. This is, uh...surprising...since Trump says over and over this is a key goal.
But then of course we already know air strikes can't wipe out their nuclear material.
I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.
I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.
1/ Here's what I can share:
It also seems like they are accelerating Golden Visas, which would help further stabilize a population largely dependent on current employers for their visas.

Bubble’s concert of Sgt Pepper, never meant to be played live, is pretty great.
Politico is reporting that DOJ has reached a settlement with Live Nation after just one week at trial. We're going to withhold full judgment until we see details, but we've been clear that only a structural separation of LNE's various lines of business can adequately address harms.
Even their official notifications are like - if you can get somewhere on your own and think it’s safe, you’re on your own. Go.
Thanks. Just driving from the airport in Phuket to our hotel. I think I landed fine.
Taking off. Thanks to the Gulf carriers - OmanAir, Etihad and Emirates, for functioning so well, all things considered.
So the US State department finally called me several days after registering for Crisis evacuation. I answered from the boarding lounge at the airport in Muscat, no thanks to them.
Rugged individualism is not a strategy to protect hundreds of thousands of USians caught in a war zone of their making
Do any of my follows/moots have preferred sources on Phoenician religion? Longshot, maybe, but idk some of you might 🤷🏻♀️
The Arts Center at NY Abu Dhabi made a playlist for International Women’s Day last year. It’s filled with great stuff.

This piece by @natebowling.com captures it well.

Thanks!
Thanks @natebowling.com for capturing the success of the UAE government and the utter disaster of the US preparation/response to the current moment.

Lush trees and rows of red and pink flowers on the side of the road in Al Ain, the Garden City.
It’s hard to explain to folks watching the news - I felt quite well protected in Abu Dhabi; no sense of panic.
But with work online for the foreseeable future, a good passport and options, it seems prudent to exercise them.
On the road to the Oman border via Al Ain and then flying out inshallah
I still reflexively feel like I should put a mask on before heading to an Iftar right now. Muscle memory is powerful.
Playing padel makes me smile so much that even when our game got interrupted for about a half hour for some incoming missiles, once they were intercepted (loudly) we went back to the game.
My team lost, but I played well and had fun.

“A lot of other countries don’t have what the US has so let’s put all of them at heightened risk…”
You too. We were working off some steam playing padel when the recent stream of interceptions just happened. Sheltered in the hotel lobby for a bit. And then played some more. Compartmentalization is a powerful tool.
Friends were en route to the airport. Still waiting to see if their flight goes
