1987 was a fantastic year for Welsh cinema - ‘Good Morning Vaynol Hall’, ‘Wind Street’, ‘The Witches of East Trewent’, and this rather bizarre little film starring the famous singer and red coat at Butlin's Barry Island - Mari Lwyd!
I’ll stop by and grab a pic the next time I’m in Minneapolis

There was already a multicultural frontier French/Métis and native society decades before Jean Baptiste Point du Sable established his homestead in the 1770s.
His settlement was just the first that appeared in British records.
We had hill barbarians that roamed into town on a Saturday night.
Not necessarily.
In international waters.. Pretty sure that is viewed as bad form.
Today, Chicago is home to approximately 2.7 million residents, with the greater Chicagoland area encompassing nearly 9.6 million people.

By 1893, more than 5,000 Welsh immigrants lived in Chicago. The South Shore featured Welsh-owned steel mills, and six Welsh societies organized the first international Eisteddfod at the World’s Columbian Exposition.
By 1850, Chicago’s population had surged toward 30,000 as it became a major inland transportation hub connected by railroads and waterways.
Four years later, on March 4, 1837, the Illinois General Assembly incorporated Chicago as a city. At that time, the population had grown to just over 4,000 people. In 1837, the young city was home to 29 dry-goods stores, 5 hardware stores, 45 provision shops, 10 taverns, and 19 law offices.
In 1833, the Town of Chicago was officially established, with a population of just 350 residents. The first President of the Board of Trustees was Thomas Jefferson Vance Owen, a pioneer of Welsh descent.
Following the Treaty of Greenville in 1795, local tribes, including the Potawatomi were forced to cede land near the river’s mouth to the United States. In 1803, Fort Dearborn was constructed there. The fort was destroyed during the War of 1812 and rebuilt in 1816.
Notable examples include Antoine Ouilmette, Jean Baptiste Point du Sable, and Jean Baptiste Beaubien, whose marriages reflect these cultural unions.
After Britain’s victory in the French and Indian War, the region came under British control from 1763 to 1795.
In 1693, Pierre d’You married Elizabeth, a Native American woman of the Miami First Nation, marking the first recorded marriage in Chicago.
By the 1740s, French influence in the region had grown significantly, traders spread throughout the western Great Lakes, many marrying Native American women.
From 1696 to 1702, Pierre François Pinet and Julien Bineteau operated the Mission of the Guardian Angel in Chicago. During this time, they compiled a remarkable 672-page French–Miami dictionary, considered the first known book written in Chicago.
The first recorded Europeans to pass through the area were French explorers Jacques Marquette and Louis Jolliet in 1673 along the Chicago Portage, linking the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. In 1674, Father Marquette established a settlement along the south branch of the Chicago River.
Penblwydd Hapus City of Chicago - 189 years young today!
Long before European arrival, more than 50,000 Miami, Mascouten, and Potawatomi people lived in the region we now call Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.
He should learn some US military history, ships were sunk by US torpedoes in both the Korean War, and Operation Desert Storm.
