Any place where ppl can exchange spur of the moment thinking is going to be terrible.

It’s just an awful place for the health of the progressive coalition.

This place is terrible for progressive politics, but all social media is terrible for that.

Yet, the center left still treats these institutions with respect rather than accept the reality that we can’t have a better country until these institutions collapse and are replaced with something better.

The fundamental issue with progressive politics in America is the inability of its participants to put the coalition first.

A foundational issue in American political thought is that many don’t understand that the MAGA movement is the cultural descendant of the Redeemers who are a cultural descendant of secessionists. These ppl are culturally unfit for multiracial democracy. That’s the central problem.

As they twist themselves into knots to try and justify the murder of a 37 year old white male American gun owner, what normally passes for the pinnacle of humanity as far as the Right is concerned, I expect that their dominate narrative will be "he was a race traitor".

What a dumb ass thing to say

Our society has generated the space for an insane amount of what I’ll call “thought hours,” but has too few worthy minds to occupy all of those thought hours. So we have a bunch of unworthy thinking inundating our society. We cannot survive this much bad thinking having this much attention & power.

It took a toll on me. I idea of writing another serious non-fiction book doesn’t seem like something I can do in the near term.
