It was a fabulous talk! Thanks.
Is there any evidence that museums, collectors, and traders of perpetrator memorabilia actively seek these things out? I'm interested in the context of the work I'm doing on survivor legacies and collections.
Yes, I could see it being partly that.
I was struck by this. Why the relatively recent emergence of these collections of photos and what is their provenance? Do we know?
I totally agree! π A colleague from Warsaw used to regularly bring me these which was one of the best things about the job I happened to be doing at the time!
Youβll smash it! π
Herzlichen GlΓΌckwunsch zu dieser ergreifenden und exzellenten Fernsehdokumentation.
Thanks for your help. The mess tin also has a person's name engraved on the lid - I guess the soldier who owned it? Do you have any thoughts on which records/sources I might search for this name to see if I can find out more about his military record?
Thanks π Iβll pursue thisβ¦
Base of French soldiers aluminium water canteen from Second World War showing logo / trademark.
Any military historians or others recognise this logo / trademark on the base of what is believed to be a French soldiers water canteen used in the Second World War. Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.
www.meininger-hotels.com/en/hotels/be.... These hotels are pretty good and reasonably priced. I like the Alexanderplatz one which is actually on Senefelder Platz!
Good to hear from you! That sounds fascinating and Iβm looking forward to seeing how your thoughts develop on and around this theme.

Such everyday things speak so poignantly. Brings to mind this object (below) with an interesting biography. Spoon taken from the Warsaw Ghetto (Leszno 71) by an escapee, used in a Berlin forced-labour camp, a DP camp in Austria, taken to the USA. Later donated to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
I know exactly what you mean.

Front cover of Journal of the Society for post-medieval archaeology.
Do people still read/find useful book reviews in academic journals? As book reviews editor for Post-Medieval Archaeology I struggle to get reviewers, everyone is so busy I know, but is there something else going on here?
Thanks π
Merci!
Agency, artefact, assemblage, ontology, materiality. Also probably shouldnβt omit ritual!
PhD people, when you were writing up roughly when did you have your 1st complete draft and then final draft done in relation to your actual planned submission date? Asking for me! π
