Has the SSSI unit at Little Sea been reassessed since 2013 when it was considered to be 'Unfavourable - Declining'? Is the introduction of beavers expected to improve that situation? And if so, how? designatedsites.naturalengland.org.uk/UnitDetail.a...
So how many beavers is that in total?
Thousands of tonnes of slowly disintegrating unexploded WWII bombs in Little Sea. Hope the beavers don't disturb them!

Seems like it's also targeted at creating wood pasture near Langton, which would make more sense.
We are, yes.
We patrol 3 toad crossings in the Wivelsfield Green area. Busy night! Where are yours?
The NT (and Bournemouth Uni) was experimenting with returning much of that grassland to heath some years ago. Too expensive and time-consuming perhaps. Or hard to resist free trees.
Male and female toads in a mating embrace on road surface.
Big night for migrating toads in Sussex! Lots of newts too. πΈβ€οΈπΈ

I know! π© Never name caterpillars after family pets. The trauma of their passing simply gets repeated. Lucky wasps though I guess?

They're going to plant trees on heathland? Or was this the wrong NT farmer to quote?

How many of those terms are still in active use would you say?
The failure to fund BNG enforcement was so obvious it can only have been intentional.
Multiple blue butterflies on exposed soil.
I think this competition needs a most-butterflies-per-carbon-mile category! My humble Dorset entry...
Maybe we need less productivity and more relaxation.
Looks good. But why do the people naming these nature programmes feel obliged to invoke the supernatural?
That pistacio gall is beautiful.
And you snuck a few ants in there too! π
We should make parking spaces smaller.
I remember when there was a busy quarry and a boat club out there.
Oh wow, and this morning my Discover feed is full of stolen nature photos with no credits! Just like that other place. π
Where's the photo credit? If you can't be bothered go back to Twitter!
