23 year old Ruben Ray Martinez’s last words? β€œI’m sorry sir”.

ICE shot him 3 times and killed him.

Renee Good’s last words? β€œIt’s ok I’m not mad”.

Alex Pretti’s last words? β€œAre you ok?”

These are the people DHS calls domestic terrorists. Threats. Aggressors.

Abolish ICE

Many of the few creatives left are now getting costume design work in film & TV through ChatGPT

AI is proving to be useful for copy and searches but not using for my art

It’s also very tough out there

Exactly. I left the Green Party because the increasingly crass behaviour is so jarring. The group response to attempts to discuss rather than clamour, feels like facing bullies at school. Seeking out fellow spirits is fine, but jeering at other viewpoints and refusing dialogue is really depressing.

I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.

Do they understand how mad they sound? As if anyone has ever decided to cross the Channel in a small boat because, if they make it, they might get to take a free taxi to a doctor's appointment?

"Pull factors" on steroids.

I really hope Voluntary Sector employees are included this time round. People working for low wages in elders care, family support, health, disability networks, all essential, none able to afford London housing costs. We always seem to be totally ignored sadly, when "key worker" housing is planned.

ICE detains five-year-old Minnesota boy arriving home, say school officials Superintendent says Liam Ramos and his father were taken into custody while in their driveway and sent to Texas

β€˜Terrible things are happening outside… Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared. Women return… to find their families gone.’

This guy went to work today, put a mask on, kidnapped a 5 year old child, and then used him as bait so both he and his father could be sent behind bars

From Senator Chris McDaniel: β€œLately, some folks have taken to calling ICE β€œthe Gestapo.” It sounds fierce. It feels righteous. But it isn’t true, and it isn’t harmless.

The Gestapo was a secret police force. No warrants. No courts. No lawyers. And no appeals. People vanished in the night, not because they broke the law, but because the law no longer meant anything. The knock on the door was the sentence.

ICE isn’t that. Not even close.

ICE is a public agency enforcing laws passed by elected officials. Its agents file reports. They seek warrants. They lose cases. Judges stop them. Lawyers challenge them. Some detainees go home. That’s not tyranny. That’s bureaucracy, for better and worse.

You can hate immigration policy. You can argue enforcement is too harsh, too sloppy, or too broad. You can work to have the law changed if you wish. That’s a republic doing what it’s supposed to do.

But when you call ordinary law enforcement β€œthe Gestapo,” you cheapen real evil. You turn history into a slogan and suffering into a metaphor. And once every badge is tyranny, no tyranny is left to recognize.

In Mississippi, I was raised to believe words should earn their weight. This one hasn't yet. It throws around the language of dictatorship while living under a system where courts still rule, lawyers still argue, and the government still loses.

That difference matters.

Because the day enforcement becomes secret, unchecked, and answerable to no one, we won’t need to borrow names from history. We’ll know exactly what we’re dealing with.

And we’ll wish we’d kept our words honest.”

How much more in your face can it be?

"Why are you asking me for my paperwork?"
"Because of your accent."
"You have an accent too."
"Where were you born sir?"
"Where were you born at?"
"Put your hands behind your back."

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

The informal economy where undocumented migrants & asylum seekers find work despite idiotic restrictions is larger in France than the UK.

It is larger in every other European country that also have ID than the UK.

The idea you can work more easily in the UK is a lie. #r4today

Most Jews are zionists. With the current rise in acted-out antisemitism it's clear why so many support a safe, diverse Jewish state. London is home to people of all beliefs and behaviours. We're used to screechy flag wavers.
I don't believe anyone's at all interested in your badge or shouts at you.
