I wanna start sending out items next year and am currently collecting experiences of small vendors to see where problems arise.
My guess:
To make the troll a little stronger: Play it in Spanish.
To make the ghost completely OP: Play it in Polish.
Overall higher difficulty: Play it in te reo MΔori (looking at you @takataapui.bsky.social
Make the troll a god and your life an absolute hell: Play in German.

"Forgotten Waters" and "City of Angels" are also RPG adjacent board games, I'd say. CoA especially...
They both are really cheap on the secondary market here...like 15β¬
"Beak Feather and Bone" is a map coloring RPG that could fit the bill...
"The King is dead" is basically a TTRPG-board game hybrid. We role-played the crap out of it. (Cheaper option: For the queen)
"Fog of love" is a 2P RPG masquarading as a board game. My friends and partner love it.
Or games like "Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective" or "Mythos tales?
"Alice is missing" is really intense and can be quite emotionaly taxing. I wouldn't gift it to be honest. People have to pick that up knowing what they are getting into.
Fiasco is a fantastic gift option.
So is the Quiet Year.
