Seriously so many great musicals happened Off-Broadway in 2024. A few of my favorites this year including The Connector, We Live in Cairo, The Lonely Few, The Big Gay Jamboree and even revivals like CATS: The Jellicle Ball and every City Center Encores! production (including Ragtime) #TheaterBSKY
As I start to compile my top shows of 2024 and revisit last year’s list it is incredibly hopeful to see how frustrated I was by new musicals in 2023 and how that really turned around this year. Going to Fringe definitely helped but even Off Broadway and Regional new musicals were a treat this year!
I do think it’s a little confusing that they’re skipping from Wicked 1 to Wicked 4: Good
At first I was willing to not like this new title but it is kind of growing on me…does this mean Wicked Part One is now “Wicked: Defying Gravity” though? #wickedmovie

This moment in Bluesky is a great example of how joy itself can be defiance and resistance.
