We see the monstrosities that have been committed, and the lack of consequences, and we feel powerless. We reach for conspiracy, believing that by making all the connections we can gain control. That exposure leads to justice. But exposure without leverage is just spectacle.
Cops who have no legal responsibility to serve or protect. Who are used to protect private property and violently enforce the social order necessary to continue profit accumulation. Humans who are forced to sell themselves through wage labor to survive.
There's no secret cabal that rules the world. No puppet masters. There are institutions. Corporations. Wealth that insulates. Capital that knows no borders. A legal system that can be exhausted with money.
Why do you provide moral cover for them then? If democrats aren't willing to make changes to the party at the platform or donor level, you're providing symbolic resistance.
Where is the revolution? To come up with a strategy of what to do now, we have to understand the history and institutions that have been used to create the barriers we now face.

NEW: The Trump admin is considering destroying 160 million COVID tests, worth half a billion dollars.
This would be a horrible waste. COVID is still around, and causes high levels of illness and deaths throughout the year. Tests are expensive. The government should send them to people for free.

Democrats had 4 years where they could have ferociously gone after white supremacist and fascist groups, abolished ICE and defunded police but they did the exact opposite. The working class needs a worker's party.
Under fascism, no one is safe.
Universities stayed quiet as the admin targeted DEI & foreign aid, censored research, etc.
Now, they face devastating cuts to indirect cost rates, threatening research & operations.
Silence won’t protect institutions. It won’t protect people; it never does.
I feel like we've got a good sense of the scope of this coup. Going to try and focus on things I can do:
-stay up to date on local actions
-give money to unhoused people
-check in with queer friends
-educate myself and others
-make protest art
I'll try to keep coming up with short lists.
