Rod Serling Visits the Planet of the Apes.
I realise though, listening to this, how much I do still like the songs from Highlander!
Yes, me too. I don't listen at all now, apart from if they pop up randomly like this.
Great video for a great song from a great film.
But 40 years ago? That's not possible!
It's one of my favourites.
Promo pic for the film Contact. Matthew McConaughey, standing, and Jodie Foster, sitting, in front of quite a large array of radio telescopes.
Can we have one of those giant glossy Titan-like Making-Of books for Contact please...?
This is fascinating!
It's just got to "Travelling Home"
which is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever...
Cover of the soundtrack cd for the Gerry Anderson tv series UFO.
Cheering myself up after watching the news by listening to the musical genius of Barry Gray.

Remembering Terry β in our hearts and on our bookshelves. #TerryPratchett
Yes, it's fun planning recordings for the coming week - but the choice of stuff is definitely narrower than it used to be.
The Stainless Steel Rat Issue 3 in the collected comic series. Itβs not the original edition, but I bloody love this cover by Carlos Ezquerra of Jim diGriz bestriding past and future, wielding big guns, looking like James Coburn and frankly looking hot as fβ. There are several excellent collected editions from 2000AD, the most recent with these added colours versions.
Homeworld β βTechnology gone madβ¦ And no place to hideβ Volume 1 in the To the Stars Trilogy, with a future Earth, a hand holding an ID card, very 1984 riff but the bookβs rather good.
The Streets of Ashkelon β a spaceship looms over an alien world and an amphibian alien person beholds a cross with a (hu)man nailed to it. This may be a spoiler.
OTD 1925: Harry Harrison
The first βgrown-upβ sci-fi author I devoured in large quantities of novels and short stories
His SF comedy The Stainless Steel Rat was adapted for 2000AD by the greatest comic artist in the world, which only made him seem more amazing
Corridors. I love them.
There's always something *unsettling* about corridors...
This is a great book!
It was nice that the final issue of my subscription actually arrived on time - like a last hurrah.
I do really love the RT though, so I'm going to have to make other arrangements to get it now.
The subs website has been broken since at least October & there's zero help from anyone there.
Probably not going for a #GettingFit walk today.
Far too wet and windy.
Also, the weather's not very nice.
A picture you can hear.
Rogue One.
Pitch an unnecessary sequel:
Rogue Two
Email this morning to tell me my Radio Times magazine subscription has ended.
But the subscription website is still broken, months after replacing the old working website. There is now a βrenewβ button, but it leads to a 404 page missing error.
Brilliant work by the RT website programmers...

LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL PHOTO.
To think that my work is now part of the British Library's history will forever be mindblowing and awesome.
Visited Wall a few times when young - and now it's only down the road a bit from where I live.
It's a great little place, full of history!
Humanists UK. Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful, without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?' Douglas Adams. Author and humanist.
DON'T PANIC. And always carry a towel.
Today, we're celebrating the life of the humanist and author Douglas Adams, born #onthisday 1952.
He is sorely missed, but his books remain some of the funniest and most imaginative explorations of the absurdity of life, the universe, and everything.
Today's Wyrd Britain birthday honours go out to author Douglas Adams (1952) author of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 7428:
Donβt sit at your desk all the time. Try to take regular breaks. Take a walk. Breathe fresh air. Look at trees. It helps.
