Trying to get my head around the term “defensive strikes” that appears to be pulling the UK into this conflict.
NEW: Pardon seekers are routinely being asked to pay $1m+ to lobbyists & lawyers claiming access to Trump, often with bonuses if clemency is granted.

So Iran’s sole athlete for the Winter Paralympics couldn’t safely make the games that start today, according to UK broadcasters. So no Iranian team present. Would have paraded just before Israel at the opening ceremony taking place at the moment in Verona. Russia and Belarus return.
Interesting moment for the news media created by conflict in the Middle East, particularly in heightened era of disinformation and social media. Lots of reporting from anonymous intelligence types doing the rounds. Like the Gulf War on steroids.

Infantino had hoped his alliance with the Board of Peace would have created some breathing space and the Palestinian FA not raise this issue at pre World Cup congress in April. But that’s not now the case. Still, unlikely many FAs will publicly back Palestinian FAs requests at Congress.
FIFA announced two “urgent” investigations into the matters, one by a governance committee into the settlement teams and another by a disciplinary committee into allegations of racist and discriminatory behavior. Palestinian FA will point out that “urgency” has led to no conclusion in 2 years.
Senior FIFA officials the Palestinian FA would not raise question of Israel at Congress this year after matter raised in Bangkok and Asuncion. But without an answer to specific questions about settlement clubs and alleged racist behaviour. They have filed to add item to 2026 Congress agenda

Reality is like with other institutions and governments, IOC is extremely cautious about saying anything about current US administration. Has been pointed out by people there that they follow the global reaction in many cases and react to Russia-Ukraine was very different at the time.
IOC belatedly responds to events in Mideast. But doesn’t name a single country in its statement on the Olympic Truce, which it describes as an “aspiration”. Wasn’t the case with Russia that ended up being banned after multiple incursions/wars during “truce” period.
