This is so cool! Congratulations @krishnanyamuna.bsky.social and Krishnan lab team!!

Closing out my year with a journal editor shocker π§΅
Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...
On my list!! Excited to watch Flash, Flash, doing a hundred yard dash!!
C. elegans researchers were early adopters of open science: "The development of common resources and the belief that research findings and mutant strains should be freely shared has propelled worm research to the forefront"
www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
The open source spirit of the worm community makes it so special - and so powerful for discovery! Great account of the impact of the community tools and databases had and have on understanding fundamental biology! πͺ± www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
Important to keep these resources funded!
Yes, lab life is truly so much fun! So nicely said by Donna Strickland: www.facebook.com/reel/8264683...
Congratulations!!
If said women work for your competitors, I guess maybe
Reaffirming the value of model organisms in training scientific minds @ishmailsaboor.bsky.social exactly what we were talking about re your #Celegans background setting you up for creative work in other systems! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

The 2025 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi for their groundbreaking discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance that prevents the immune system from harming the body π§ͺ www.nobelprize.org/prizes/medic...
Rhythmic metabolites in the E19 SCN peak during the day. Majority of rhythmic lipids and polar metabolites in the E19 SCN peak during the day, while there are more diverse phase clusters in the developed P28 SCN postweaning. Polar metabolites and lipids identified as rhythmic in E19 SCN (E19 clusters 1, top, and 2, bottom) were divided into subgroups based on hierarchical K-means clustering. Line plots on the left show traces of the normalized level of each rhythmic compound in each corresponding cluster. Bar plots on the right represent the lipid classes and polar metabolites in each rhythmic cluster.
How are #circadian rhythms established during development? This study shows that maternal metabolic signals oscillate in the fetal #SCN before the endogenous #clock becomes functional, offering a plausible mechanism for maternal entrainment of the developing clock @plosbiology.org π§ͺ plos.io/3VD45fZ
This may be the most important paper ever published about NIH funded research.

Congratulatioms, @needhibhalla.bsky.social !!
Whoa - neuronal ciliary proteome! Tons to dig into here - different from kidney cilia proteome (perhaps unsurprising) and enriched for many postsynaptic proteins, strengthening previous suggestions of cilia as postsynaptic signaling structures.

Thrilled to share our new paper @cp-cell.bsky.social:
βMicrogliaβastrocyte crosstalk regulates synapse remodeling via Wnt signaling.β
This work demonstrates the necessity of gliaβglia communication and coordination during synapse remodeling.

Happy Anniversary! π
A friendly reminder that the NIH Public Access Policy IS NOT βyou must publish open accessβ but rather βyou must ensure your copy of your paper is deposited into PubMed Central.β
Yes, it is very confusing. Yes, you should be able to do that deposit yourself without paying anything to a journal.
The first one is some crazy work by @monmitabhar.bsky.social, Tanumoy, @hari-flies.bsky.social and Kamal Kishore. They eavesdropped on worm conversations and found the exciting phenomenon of movement of memory from one worm to another 2/n www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Congratulatioms @kavita-babu.bsky.social @monmitabhar.bsky.social and team! Super cool story!

Fred Hutch researchers created a gene-expression map of glial cells in tiny worms, adding the missing component that completes an atlas of the entire nervous system of a multicellular adult animal at the molecular level. @singhvilabglia.bsky.social @manusetty.bsky.social bit.ly/47353c3
